I think the reins had been loosened considerably by the time Bennett got here and the story said they got 3.5 Category C recruits admitted per year in 2006 and 2007. The Category C marginal designation used to be higher than 900 under Cavan and Rossley. I think at one point it was 1050 SAT and then 950 SAT from memory. There was a streemlining of the admission process in about 2000(the Silent Commitment). It was 10 times worse prior to 2000- a seriously ridiculous set of obstacles

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.

Subcommittee members must determine if the student has at least a 50 percent chance of graduating from SMU. If so, they should admit that student.

Great discussion, but folks, a "50 percent chance of graduating from SMU" is not a high standard. Not happy about the late notice on the rejection, but I'm not sure letting a kid fail out after one semester is doing him any favors either

I think giving them the accredited two year college option is a good way to handle it and a benefit to all parties. They only need 12 transferable hours in the fall. Going into it, they can get the approval on the transferability, so that shouldn't be an issue. All they need to do is pass 4 classes. If they can't do that at a JUCO, they wouldn't be able to do it at SMU. This gives them college coursework experience and an extra year of eligibility.

So let me get this right...

There's been one write-up in the Dallas Morning News..

..JJ nor SO were made available for comment..

..the article contained talking points from someone in Turner's corner..

...and a good number of ponyfans are under the assumption that this article was something OTHER THAN damage control?
