"when it works its way through legal channels"

Wasn't the extension announced before the Bowl game -- 12/24/2009?

I'm not an attorney but have seen much more complex transactions / documents go through the legal process in less than 7 months.

Are they waiting on someone to graduate from law school so they can review the docs?

Maybe "legal channels" means coming to agreement on verbiage stating specifically the academic process to get athletes accepted. If they come to an agreement and the school changes course, there is an out clause.

If true this is great news. However I think it is highly likely that the statement is soley designed to help on the recruiting trail.

When the headline says "June Jones Actually Signs Contract" then I'll be satisfied. 8 months is a long time to wait for a contract to clear the lawyers.

Maybe the lawyers are reading the new health care bill first.

No, it was heralded that the DMN and NBC5 News had made it APPEAR he'd signed his contract in December. :)

Ditto.
Something happened, it seems.

"still intends to?"
"legal channels?"
Doesn't sound like one big happy family.

Good for the Dallas Observer for getting this out there.

Two facts--June has not signed an extention and second he must be absolutely politically correct during this debate.

well-intentioned folks plan on doing a lot of things..until they dont

I think I told my first girlfriend I intended to be with her a long, long, time. Until she got to be too annoying.

I told my first employer I didnt intend to ever work anywhere else...until I got tired of mundane b.s. and someone offered more $ and less b.s.
I will not make age an issue in this campaign. I'm not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience.
