Not to beat a dead horsebut I noticed when I log on to PF.com just now that there were 11 people visiting our board, 11! The day after our basketball coach gets fired there are 11 people on our fan board. That says it all.
And you also have to consider that a lot of people jump on to read what's being said, and then jump off, and come back later. If there were 11 on all day, I might be concerned, but it seems like every time I'm on, there are different names up there. The interest is there, it's just that a lot of people come and go, rather than staying on all day -- myself included.
And I'm not sure how that thing works where the current viewers/browers are listed .... but in the time it took me to read and write my last post, the basketball board has had posts added by three posters other than me, yet none of them is listed. PK's note that there have been 600-plus reads of a single thread since yesterday morning is enough evidence to let me rest easy that people are, in fact, very interested in what's going on.
On another note: Copeland said last week that part of the reason for the end of the men's track team was so that the school could focus it's resources (read: money) into men's basketball and football. I wonder how much of that $4.5 million we're supposed to save over the next few years after shutting down track will be put into a bigger salary for a basketball coach (and staff)?
