Lack of Leadership

Post by BigEasyPony »

What is most distressing to me is the lack of leadership being shown by the Athletic Director. Isn't it ironic that this embarrassment came on the heels of the decision to shut down the track program?

The only thing that Copeland can do to give the fans any hope (even if it's false) is to let Coach Dement go. The team does not respond to him and let's face it this is Year 9! This situation has got to change and change fast! This further harms our image athletically and certainly doesn't help recruiting. This is pathetic and to put up with it much longer would be to accept mediocrity (or worse). As good a guy as Mike Dement may be, his dismissal should be a fait accompli anyway so let's be a man about it and just get it over with so he can move on and we can begin the process of looking for a new coach.

Yeah, I don't think he makes any decisions until he has read the message board for the best advice.

Where else would someone look to read the opinions of SMU fans? That's not to suggest that Coach Dement lost his job because Copeland read some angry post on this board, but I bet there are some SMU staffers who check it out pretty regularly. Whether Copeland is among them, who knows. But they know that opinions and thoughts -- both good and bad -- are expressed here.
