“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

To be fair, he's a young kid for his class w/tremendous athleticism. Unfortunately, he only ran PG for half a season, when we were recruiting him. I think most liked him as a combo, they just didnt know if he could be a PG next year. Then, Roque joined the Dreamvision team, that features national top 10, Shabazz Mohammed. They made Roque their PG, he's been running w/them all Spring & Summer, and now he has bigger offers. Sometimes it pays to wait the process out

Speaking of Jfrog, anyone have pick-up reports? Everyone's on campus, so you know tthey are running.

I feel bad for JSamp if he doesn't come in and light the world on fire. Bc of how our PG search went, and because of the way some people feel about our program, I feel like the fans will be especially harsh on JSamp if he doesn't have a big impact this season.

Just a reminder to keep in perspective that this kid wanted to come to SMU, is excited to be here, and wants to succeed as a Pony. As fans, we should be sure to remember that once the season starts.

Ultimately, Doh got a kid he liked. It's certainly a polarizing ship, but that's going to happen when you're shopping for a starting PG that late in the game. Hopefully, he plays a vital role, as early pick up is pseudo-encouraging. Either way, I'd have to imagine they'll see what they can get out of Pats, possibly clink first

Yeah, good luck. It's hard for a Top 100 player to come in and have an impact his frosh year, let alone a player who barely got a scholarship offer.

I don't like the signing, but all I want to see is a pg that can control the tempo (whatever tempo Doh decides that day) and doesn't "Harp" it, aka getting the deer in the headlights look and turning the ball over every other time he touches the ball.

I will try not to criticize him unduly during his first campaign. He's on the team now, so I want him to succeed and since I will be sitting through 18-20 home games, I want to be entertained instead of squirming in my seat.

Btw, are we still waiting to hear on any of the Euros gaining admission?

Top 100 players that come to CUSA tend to be big time right away, but you're right, Jfrog wasn't on anyone's radar, very late. That's worrisome, but playing devils advocate, when did Doh know about London Giles transferring in? What about Alexander? That's 2 schollie PGs on roster in '11(Giles & Jfrog), two quality local walk-ons in Alexander & Barbre, and an incoming frosh PG. Add Pats/Clink? and a senior Haynes, and that's alot of guys that are either primary ballhandlers, or have adequate handle. We may struggle vs. ball pressure this year, but my bet is that we don't schedule any pressing teams..lol

As for Euro's, my understanding was that Pat is in, and Vilde is an admitted non-qualifier. Basically, he has to redshirt this year. Smith has the GPA/scores and is on campus, don't know about clearinghouse, though

He's both jFrog & Pigtails. What he may or may not lack in swag, he makes up for in nicknames
