I forgot to mention at the chicago gathering with JJ, he mentioned that Dickerson was influential in getting fields to committ here....He said he gave him EDs number and he called and talked reg. with ED....

Re: Darryl Fields
I'm not sure he will be ready at the start of the season, but I'm still looking forward to him getting loose in opponent's secondaries with his size and 4.4 speed.
Re: Darryl Fields
1) Great to hear about Dickerson.
2) Craig did help, he got rid of Leach just like how SMU planned it.

Re: Darryl Fields
Orsini singled out Craig James and Eric Dickerson as the two most helpful SMU alumni who assisted in getting June Jones. Just listened to it again last week. STFU

Re: Darryl Fields
Why don't you blow him since you love him so much....
When the ? was asked to JJ, he singled out Dickerson and said nothing about CJ....
Stallion = Craig James???

Re: Darryl Fields
Sorry Stallion that is not correct. ED was the influence and CJ had NOTHING to do with JJ. I know the sequence of events and who called who, and how it all started and Craig was not involved in the sequence of events with JJ and don't care what Craig does or doesn't do for SMU BTW.Stallion wrote:Orsini singled out Craig James and Eric Dickerson as the two most helpful SMU alumni who assisted in getting June Jones. Good news about ED involved with Fields as didn't know that ,but he will be a good one here, but may or may not be a major factor early this year.
Re: Darryl Fields
I hadn't thought about that. Hmmm....... that alone could elevate him out of his relative ignominy........ temporarily (at least until Sept. 5th).ponydawg wrote: 2) Craig did help, he got rid of Leach just like how SMU planned it.

Re: Darryl Fields
Glad to see ED get some 'love' on PFs....seems to me he was relegated to CJ status only a few years ago.
Re: Darryl Fields
Fields will be a huge asset to our team. Not only will he be beneficial on gridiron, but after playing basketball with him a few days back I think Coach Doh would be wise to be hitting him up in the offseason.

Re: Darryl Fields
would love to see a "super frosh" come in and contribute right away. we need some running threat to keep defenses honest.

Re: Darryl Fields
Don't forget about Pope, I think he gets some time this year as well...
Re: Darryl Fields
And I'm really surprised that Butler didn't cement himself anywhere in the lineup. Does anyone have any insight on that? Is he that bad of a pass blocker or receiver? He's never seemed to have trouble running the ball when healthy. I really expected him to at least be more in the conversation as a Senior.NickSMU17 wrote:Don't forget about Pope, I think he gets some time this year as well...

Re: Darryl Fields
I think you are probably right with ED's status a few years ago, but even from Chicago, ED has been visibly supportive of the program. I hope he keeps it up.SoCal_Pony wrote:Glad to see ED get some 'love' on PFs....seems to me he was relegated to CJ status only a few years ago.
PONY UP!
