The Dallas Cowboys' team website has an article predicting the final 53-man roster, and our man Bryan McCann is viewed as an "on the bubble" guy — splitting the votes for the final defensive back spot with safety Pat Watkins. http://www.dallascowboys.com/news/news. ... AF809078B5

At PonyFans LIVE the other night, McCann talked about how he sought out the Cowboys' special teams coach and informed him that he would do anything — return punts or kickoffs, serve as a "gunner" on kickoff coverage teams, etc. — to make the team.
Hope it works out. Give 'em hell in San Antonio, Bryan!

Hope it works out. I hope he makes it too, but ya know how many guys probably approach the special teams coaches every day every pre-season and beg beg beg that they "will do anything" to make the team? Of course they all may not have McCann's speed. Ya never know with injuries, ect he could make it!

I think Pat Watkins was actually drafted a couple of years back. It's not impossible, but it's pretty difficult for a free-agent (with no NFL experience) to beat out a drafted player for a final roster spot. Just being a bubble guy means he''ll at least make the scout team, which is better than being in the position of trying to find an actual job these days.

That's true, Watkins was drafted in 2006 (fifth round), but in four years, he has yet to take a firm grip on a position in the secondary. How many safeties have they gone through since he has been there? Roy Williams, Gerald Sensabaugh, both Hamlins, Alan Ball ... and he still hasn't cracked the rotation except on an emergency basis when an injury dictates that he has to play. He's a stud on special teams, and very fast, which doesn't help McCann's cause, but as a safety, he's almost a liability.

What's up Dubbya? Nice of you to chime in. Wish you and a few other adults were still in charge in D.C. This obamunism stuff is really becoming tiresome. Say hi to Laura.

http://espn.go.com/blog/nfceast/post/_/ ... ation-deckTough first day for rookie free-agent cornerback Bryan McCann from SMU. The player obviously has some talent, but he was victimized by both Bryant and Ogletree. He appeared to be in decent position on both plays, but he didn't get a hand up in time.
