Interesting TV Contract note

Postby Stallion » Mon Jul 26, 2010 11:37 am

read last segment of this article. The TV Games not televised by ESPN are not all bundled up for CBS-CS to control under the new contract. Is there opportunity now to have more games on other networks?

nice. maybe adds a tiny bit of $$-muscle for the next go-around of conference re-alignment shuffle.

How do conference TV rights affect a school's ability to broadcast games? Is the basic rule of thumb that if the national TV partners (ESPN, CBSCS, ETC.) decide not to pick up a game, the school can then market it to whoever is interested (if someone is)?

What if, in the rarest of circumstances, due to a plethora of marquee games a conference's national TV partners all pass on a game, but the game is still very interesting (say an undefeated SMU and TCU late in a season). Could a NBC, TBS or other national network without a strong college football affiliation pick up a game, or is that strictly off limits? I'm just curious how theses agreements work and if it is more like a first right of refusal agreement with ESPN, CBSCS, etc.

I think it means SMU or anyone else can negotiate its own local broadcasts or PPV at its discretion.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Thad can produce a PPV. Think SMU coeds gone wild at a football game. Nekkid chicks always get good ratings.
