Re: Life after June Jones?I'm sure Stallion can put in a good word to Coach Dodge. After all, he's a genius.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Life after June Jones?dont be too quick to assume that you can just plug in a new HC and continue exactly where you left off... How many HCs did you guys have to go through, since the DP, to get to where you are now.... the reason JJ turns losing programs into winners is because he makes average players play like 4 and 5 star players, also not to mention the fact hes an offensive genius... why else do you think you can only count on 1 hand the amount of mid major teams thats made it to a BCS bowl game... 4 teams... Utah, Boise St, TCU, and Hawaii... Everyone in Hawaii thought that we'd be just fine if JJ left, and we had to find out the hard way... Average coaches can survive in a AQ program, but not at a midmajor... just the way it is, even with all the funding that SMU provides it still isnt even close to what top AQ programs give... if i were you guys i'd lobby very hard for JJ to get exactly what he wants, or else, forever hold your peace...

Re: Life after June Jones?
I hear you. I'd say 90% of fans and influential alumni want to give JJ exactly what he wants. Unfortunately, it's the 70% of faculty (my random guess) that want to minimize athletics.
Re: Life after June Jones?what if my pilot has a heart attack while flying my plane? what if a bridge collapses I am driving under? what if the cruise ship I am on hits an iceberg and sinks? what if the air traffic controller guiding my plane falls asleep? what if i live in fear and miss the moment? oh woe is me! C-ya @ Milos!
Re: Life after June Jones? If all those happen to you please understand if I never travel with you.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Life after June Jones?
Because we intentionally sawed our own legs off and then told the revenue sports to go run a marathon. It's kind of tough to do without legs. I'm pretty sure we've covered this subject ad nausea here, many, many times. It's not rocket science, SMU made the decision to be wretched.
Re: Life after June Jones?I'm not in the sky-is-falling camp, nor excessively concerned with 'what if's', but it might be useful to store away in one's memory banks for some day sooner or later, that JJ (based on his Hawaii tenure) will never publicly criticize SMU/administration/working situations/individuals, nor will he wage an overt PR campaign to induce change. Instead, he will privately work to do so, while still saying all the politically correct things publicly, then when he's had enough, he'll just walk without much (or, any) warning.
Admittedly, he is in a different place in his life now, but he is still a somewhat eccentric personality. Only the people behind-the-scenes know the degree of his dissatisfaction, but hopefully the 'powers that be' are also willing to reasonably work out resolutions. Regardless, as some have stated, whenever JJ leaves, SMU is already in a better position. Hopefully, it will be in more than a few years from now, and hopefully there will be minimal bumps in the road in that eventuality.
