We have a 17 year young man here on the North Little Rock High School football team that is is an offensive tackle and is 6' 8" 380 lbs. Thye talk about how unusual it is to have both this height and weight at this young age. Of course he is having to learn how to use his body apporpriately but to do this he is getting training from various NFL coaches and former NFL players. This is a kid that is being groomed for the NFL and sounds to me to be a perfect target for our own recruiting guru Coach Klemm. I will send this kids name to him in case he is not aware of him.
It also sounds like there have been some issues with his grades that they are addressing. Now that is bad on the one side but the fact that they are addressing the issue hopefully will clear him for entry to Division 1A.
Arkansas does not have a lot of Division 1 athletes for football each year, but the ones they do have are fairly outstanding and I would like to maintain a presence in the state in order to maybe someday have a chance at a Darren McFadden, Keihl Frazier, etc.

Hey Mrydel, what ever happened to SMU RB Donte Womack from Arkansas ? Did he play pro ball ? ( He played here in the late 90s and was the best RB to come here since the DP besides Shawnbrery Mc Neel.

I have no idea, but Pulaski Academy, where he attended High School is a good pipeline target for SMU. Good students from mid to upper class families and a good program. The big tackle that ended up committing to Princeton this year was from there and they always have some pretty good prospects.
Again, there is nothing to compare to recruiting DF and then Louisiana, Oklahoma, and California are great, but Arkansas will give you about 5 or 6 outstanding athletes a year and believe it or not, they are not all tied to UA. The SEC does have first preference however.

Actually no. He is up to 380 and maybe closer to 400. He is trying to get down to 365 for his palying weight this year.

Definitely Shanderrick. Jamal Charles tells everyone Shanderrick was the better rb (though smaller). Too bad we only got about 1.5 years out of him before the back injury.

Womack was the best one for one night against Arkansas though.

Talent-wise, I think Womack might have been the best of all of them .... not as shifty as Charles or McNeal, but a great hybrid runner — fast enough to get away from some, strong enough to run through a lot of tackles.
I really shouldn't drink and type.
