O-Line...

Postby smupony » Tue Aug 10, 2010 2:32 pm

Who are our starting 5 right now?

LT - Kelvin Beachum
LG - ??? (LeRibeus is gone until next year)
C - Bryce Tennison
RG - Kelly Turner
RT - JT Brooks

Is that correct?

Where do Bryan Collins (started at RT a few games early last year), Jordan Free (letterman last year), Blake McJunkin (played C for Enright when injured but looks to have lost the starting C spot), and the freshamn class see their playing time going this year?

Thanks!

I think they decided to put Tennison back at guard and McJunkin starting at center.

I like Bryce shoring up the left side.

Additionally, I don't think Josh will be back. Remember last year he was real late reporting to practice for "personal reasons". I just have a feeling, Josh is burned out on FB.

So we are thinking...

LT - Kelvin Beachum (6'3 298)
LG - Bryce Tennison (6'3 285)
C - Blake McJunkin (6'2 280)
RG - Kelly Turner (6'1 308)
RT - JT Brooks (6'5 303)

Are we all comfortable with that line-up? Has McJunkin fixed his shotgun snap?

McJunkin has earned the coach's praises, had an excellent offsesason, listen to his interview, very impressive young man, I will take McJunkin at center any day of the week, I believe he will be one of the more improved players this season, plus he is feisty, which is what your looking for in the trench

we need more height and size across the board - and we are heading there - but it aint gonna happen this year. We will struggle against TCU and Tech for that reason - but after that should hold our own.

Same lineup that was reported here Monday.

I didn't get the sense that anything final has been determined, but it sounds like a veteran group that might end up being our best choice.

McJunkin got pressed into action when he was a true freshman due to injury at a very light 255 lbs...he's two years older, a smart kid, a hard worker and 25 lbs heavier - should be just fine now.
