You think Ford looks more big-time than 50,000 seat Baylor?

As much as I despise the Bears, I think their stadium looks more big-time than Ford...

I would rather play in ford than the picture you showed for baylor...

ford is a really nice stadium...and it leave a lot of possibilities for expansion...

the pic you used of Baylor's place kinda makes it looks like the HS stadium/Midwestern St's stadium in Wichita Falls, aside from some endzone seating

Not to take anything away from TCU because I think the renovated stadium looks awesome, but it is a little disturbing to see the accelerating arms race in college football. Say what you want about the Knight Commission, but I think Turner's fears about this trend in college athletics are justified. Those suites look like they belong in an NFL stadium. No doubt we'll have to do major renovations to Ford in the next decade to try and keep up. Meanwhile, large and growing athletics budget deficits are the order of the day at most D-1A schools. Where does it end?

What Turner and the Knight commission ignore is the impact of a successful athletic program on enrolment demand. Its a fact that applications spike when a university has a successful football program. Spiking applications mean that the academicians that run universities can cherry-pick better qualified students. Spiking applications also mean the university can jack-up the price of admission. I scoff at the bookworms that run universities and the cheapskate ways towards athletics.

If you noticed our jump in rankings this year...I would imagine it can be attributed to increased donations from athletics and an increased difficulty in admissions from increased applications

I note that they are making the outside brickwork blend in with the surrounding pale yellow buildings on the TCU campus. My views as to the pale yellow buildings on the TCU campus have been stated often, so I won't repeat them again.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

There is nothing big time about a large stadium (Baylor) with lots of empty seats...and yes we have the same problem with a lesser capacity stadium. Let's get Ford full on a consistent basis before we start worrying about making it look "big time."
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I don't mind the arms race in college football as long as it's $$$ provided by alums & friends of whatever university it is. They're not robbing Peter to pay Paul. What I do mind is the cartel not providing each & every school (us!) the opportunity to compete on a fair & equal basis & the sorry, lazy, liberal educators that are too spineless to fight this injustice. But then again, as long as they have saps like us that keep giving to "their" university's athletic programs, what's the worry?! Why make the effort to fight?! I guess we're the dummies now?!
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

It feels smaller than it is. It's design is a liability.

And how do you think that should be rectified?

Putting an upper deck on the east side would help and since SMU owns everything to the east of the stadium, getting a height variance on the structure shouldn't be a problem. Besides it probably wouldn't be any higher than the west side when it's done.

And how many years of sellouts will SMU need before building that structure (temporarily putting aside the issue of cost)? After all, empty seats look "small-time".

Why don't you take up the fight? If the injustice is so obvious, then the path to victory must be clear!

Because they have the power to make something happen - not us sitting on the outside looking in. If all the NON bcs-BSC schools got together to fight this cartel, things would change. Besides, if they're not willing to fight for it, why should we? Got it?! LOL!!!

There are so many other charities & organizations today that are much more worthy for our donations than college sports that are truly making a difference in society.

I see college football as entertainment not charities.
But if you want to give to a great cause drop a check in the mail to these folks
