I totally agree with this post. MWC without Utah and BYU is not worth our time.

I currently live in an area with a lot of LDS people. Their love for BYU is more cult-like than even A&M. BYU has their own network that is already on in more than 60 million homes on basic cable. I do not know if it will make them a better football team, but I do think they would benefit financially from their independence.

Personally, I believe it to be a bluff. I think BYU is angling for a UT type deal, where they remain in the MWC, where they can put available games on their own network instead of on The Mtn.

Reports are that BYU will play 4 - 6 teams from the WAC a year, which would make scheduling easier.....
They already play Utah every year anyway.....

this ESPN article says that there is now a $5 million fine for leaving the WAC- agreed to after Boise left- so that could mean no Fresno or Nevada for the MWC:

Mildly amused. Without BYU's 4 consecutive 10+ wins in football and Utah's two BCS bowl wins, there will be no BCS bid for MWC. TCU and Boise won't get it done. And if Boise leaves....

I am sure that BYU will get a BCS deal similar, but not quite, what Notre Dame got. It is in the current BCS conferences best interest to ensure the MWC doesn't get a bid.

Also, the Mountain network viability just went to zero.

Rumblings coming out from the AIR FORCE athletic dept are that if BYU goes Indy, then AIR FORCE will too.
