How does Hawaii leaving for the MWC affect us?

MWC still has two top ten football teams (TCU and Boise). However now it is undeniable that the MWC has been significantly weakened.

They are so top heavy....no middle tier teams, no natural rivalries...no attendence....

Outside of TCU Boise what conference game is going to draw anyone in?

At least with Conf USA you have some natural rivalries, and excellent media markets...

The MWC would still be an improvement for Houston. I expect them to be offered, and I expect them to accept.

If I'm Houston I don't want anything to do with the instability in the MWC. That conference would be a killer on their travel costs as well. They'd be better off staying where they are.

depends on the numbers. If they lose BYU, might offer Houston and us, form two divisions, and we'd be nuts not to go.

maybe they don't have to come up with anything:

"The Reno Gazette-Journal is reporting that Nevada also will accept the offer to join the MWC and that the university did not sign a reported $5 million buyout clause to get out of the Western Athletic Conference. The Reno newspaper also said that Nevada would hold its news conference at 7:30 p.m."

Exactly, now they can more easily dominate the conference.

I'm surprised how late this conference shuffle happened. I doubt Houston will jump ship, but what do I know
