Does C-USA have buyout clause for members?anyone know? If so, how big?
Re: Does C-USA have buyout clause for members? This is from the Twitter feed of the Memphis BBall writer today:
DanWolken: Doing some digging, it seems that the schools who joined C-USA in '06 have large buyouts (over $1 mil). Original members can walk for less ![]()
Re: Does C-USA have buyout clause for members?great find...thx. wonder if c-usa is scrambling for new , bigger clause like WAC tried to do.
Re: Does C-USA have buyout clause for members?I saw ours is 500k. Can't remember where.
Re: Does C-USA have buyout clause for members? If the offer to make a significant move up the conference came up there would be zero problem getting whatever money we needed to get it done.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Does C-USA have buyout clause for members?
Fact.
Re: Does C-USA have buyout clause for members?was more concered if others wanted to jump ship (aka Houston) ...what their buyout would be.
Re: Does C-USA have buyout clause for members?Doing some searching through various archives, found this nugget from a Nov. 2003 article in the DMN about TCU then-possibly leaving CUSA.
Wolken's tweet is the only thing I've seen that could be considered current. ![]()
Re: Does C-USA have buyout clause for members?Houston would also have no problems raising that kind of money. I guess I'm still not convinced that Houston win would be wise to accept a bid to the Mountain West at this point. With all the instability in that conference I'd be pretty leery of what's going on out there. Here's my dream scenario. A new mini SWC.
SMU TCU Houston Tulsa UTEP Rice Tulane La Tech New Mexico with the possibility of adding Baylor at the next round of realignment. Will never happen but hey... Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Does C-USA have buyout clause for members?Louisville, Cincy and USF got waivers of their buyouts by agreeing to home games with old CUSA teams for a period of years. Army just got a waiver. I remember that TCU was rather bitter about not getting a similar deal which may be why they might not rejoin CUSA.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Does C-USA have buyout clause for members?
Rice and Tulane are dead weight. The purpose of forming a new conference would be to leave behind these exact schools. New Mexico is at least competitive in basketball. Far East Conference
