without TCU in the mix, the BYU indy announcment would have happened yesterday. It did not. TCU is brokering much of this. Kinda like the king of the dipshi*s with a geographic advantage, DFW.

BYU is just slow playing their hand. Very smart move on their part. No need to burn bridges permanently until they absolutely have to do it. IMO, the smart money is on them staying put in the MWC and all will be as it was before. I think they are starting to come to their senses on going indy and the inherint difficulties in doing so. Being in the MWC is temporary for them and they can leave whenever they want. Going indy is a risky proposition with a lot of unknown elements in play. If anything, to appease TCU the MWC will offer Houston so TCU gets another conference opponent in their time zone. I have serious doubts about this 20 team ESPN conference or some kind of CUSA/MWC merger. Just don't see that happening.

Two inconsistent BYU rumors that I've heard. Both from Mormons with ties to SLC. (1) BYU is waiting on permission from the mother church to go Indy and get a contract from ESPN which permits non-covered home games to be played on the BYU network so that the church can run "become a Morman ads" for free. (2) BYU and TCU are getting invited to fill the two open slots in the Big XII which is being brokered by ESPN. My guess is that option 1 is more likely than option 2. I don't see the Big XII adding TCU at this point in time. I believe that BYU is going indy which will absolutely hose TCU.

LOL. TCU now in the Big 12!!! Texas will NEVER allow that to happen. TCU adds nothing to a conference with such a heavy presence in the DFW area. We have as good a shot at joining the Big 12 as they do.

Remember Patterson's comment yesterday? He was practically scolding BYU for threatening to go indy. They are not in cahutes (sp?). Although I am starting to get the vibe they are not so hot on going indy. My guess is that they stay MWC.
