The reality is he probably doesn't have the grades to get into SMU.

These guys are nuts...like a rabid dog...

SMU was 14-17 last year with a victory over memphis...we aren't good, but we aren't terrible...UNT would be favored in denton, SMU would be favored at moody....

It is called a rational argument...guess they don't teach that in wood-shop

SMU would never be favored in Moody, or in Denton or if UNT played with 4 players....I listed your impressive list of wins you had last year. You beat one decent team, a team that didn't make it to the tournament. You did beat a 19-16 Houston team, a team that won your conference tournament. An entire two teams from your powerful conference made the tournament last year, and if Utep would have won your conference tournament it would have been one....

SMU would definitely be favored at Moody. You guys are painfully full of yourselves. Your roster is littered w/kids we pretty much didn't want, and we don't recruit particularly well. Again, winning he Sun Belt doesn't impress, that's 7-9 in CUSA. You guys are better served running smack to SFA or another low major.

I liked him alot more before July, Papa. All motor, no skill, no position at the next level. Kid plays harder than anyone on the floor, but he can't face

This isn't something to be proud of. He is qualified enough to go to get offers from better academic schools than SMUt. Remember your post when June Jones leaves you in the dust after this season....

Okay, champ...you just keep walking around with your head in the clouds like that. We all are holding our breath for NTSU's breakthrough into the Final Four, jumping into the top 100 Universities, finishing that stadium, getting a real football coach, getting into a real football conference, and actually winning the bowl games you get to. When you accomplish those things, please, let us know...we're all very excited for them to happen.

I'm adopting FIU & Western Kentucky as additional cheering interests. Go Fighting Isaiah's & Hilltoppers!

I don't really know if this smack is really personal or if we are all playing around but no one can deny that UNT has had a very solid basketball program the last 4 years. Two tourney trips in that span has a great perception to a program especially in a state and area where basketball has skyrocketed in growth the last decade or so. As far as the Sunbelt conference....I admit that I don't love the conference but it is a very respectable one. WKU, South Alabama, and Troy all have very respectable programs. While I will agree that overall CUSA might be better...it surely isn't by much. UNT would still be a good team in the conference. If SMU was in the belt...they may have a few more wins but they wouldn't be anywhere near where UNT is in my personal opinion.

SMU basketball has a lot of potential...I think Doherty has just about run its course and it is time for a change. If you guys can get someone in with legitimate skins on the wall and pay him a heck of a good salary then the program will get turned around fairly quickly. I think JJ was the perfect fit for SMU even though I think many might agree he was probably over paid. But the point is that the program got a huge upstart and starting to turn it around and do it fast. I think the same goes with basketball if Orsini can make it happen.

I'm just curious why Collin Mangrum transferred from UNT to SMU this season?
Better degree? Better team? More playing time?

Well there are rumors but from what I remember, I believe he was going to finish up school and pursue a masters at SMU or something to that effect. But I also heard that he just wanted to transfer because he wanted more playing time. I wish him the best and he is a good dude and I think you guys will like him. Very gutsy kid.

lol @ more playing time. The kid is a walk on. He may work his way in, but he doesn't have minutes to start.

Oh yeah he prob won't start for you guys. Maybe spot start here and there perhaps due to injuries etc. But in all seriousness he is a very good kid. It probably is a combination of both...Pursuing the masters degree at SMU and at the same time try to get the opportunity for more playing time.

Glad to have him. Heard he was injured much of his time on the Mean Green, and can shoot it. Shooters are always welcome

He graduated with honors and wants to pursue a law degree while staying close to home. He has a year of eligibility left and doesn't have to sit out because he finished his bachelor's.
