It was an interesting interview, but about everything other the SMU and the team's prospects this year. I think they spent more time on June Jones' socks and Hawaiian shirts than this year's team.

Perhaps JJ limited the conversation with Norm on purpose. Perhaps JJ doesn't want to gie Away too much information about this year's team. Opponents that hear JJ talk about who looks good, who made improvements, where we may be lacking and so forth, may, just may carry more weight than the opinions that show up on fan boards.
When Ponyfans speaks, only Pony fans listen. When JJ speaks, our opponents listen.

The average listener prolly cares more about June than SMU. Let them like June, get them to a game that way. Let them enjoy the time at the game, win the game, and maybe have them come back. The faithful 1500 already know about the season, the rest of DFW doesn't care yet.

the ticket is a waste of time.

After listening to Norm at lunch today, I think it's an age/maturity thing. He's just a bad fit for the sophomoric schtick that's the Ticket's bread and butter. Oil and water.

June will be the next Kansas City Chiefs coach.

I hope he is the next coach at KC,
Haley and Weis are going to get at least 2 years to fix,, which means we have gotten very good in 2 years if they are offering him that job...
Nice incentive for SMU coaches if the Hunts keep hiring them away...like schellas...to bad they don't have a basketball team

The interview was clearly a personality piece on June, not necessarily the Mustangs and their upcoming season. However, it did give JJ an opportunity to talk about his focus on helping young men in their personal lives as well as football. So if you're a prospective student-athlete, a parent or random Dallasite, the interview would be well-received.
And yes, Norm is too mature a writer for the crap they usually roll with on the Ticket.

You can actually hear the schmucks in the background snickering when he talks. And the other hosts openly make fun of him. Why the hell he puts up with that crap I'll never know. Consummate professional, heckuva nice guy, and very knowlegable.

Actually you have a point. My wife could care less about football in any shape form or fashion. She did go to all of our son's college games when he was playing but after he graduated she never even watched it on tv. I have four season tickets and she has been to one game in the last 2 years. But... I bought JJ's book and had it laying on the coffee table and she picked it up and read it in two days. She is now a die hard JJ fan and will defend him to the death with anyone.
When will I start feeling stimulated??

Just reread that book in preparation for the season. Should be mandatory summer reading for anyone on PonyFans.
