Men's basketball -- Who is here and who isn't?I read a thread that Smith (is it that 6-8 kid from the islands?) who didn't get into school or bailed out Doherty?
What happened to that Eastern European kid? Is he here? What happened to that kid from Florida who signed? Is he here? Then, we have new assistant coaches? Lutz is gone and so is Geary? BTW, I saw the threads for that tournament and home and home with UALR. Is it really that bad now? I guess so. Thanks for your help whoever can catch me up.
Re: Men's basketball -- Who is here and who isn't?Welcome back General. I do not think anyone has a handle on what is going on with the basketball team. There seems to be quite a few question marks as to academic and eligibility factors with most of the new class. Hard to separate facts from fear and rumors. Hopefully, someone can place some prospective on matters soon.
Re: Men's basketball -- Who is here and who isn't?Unfortunate news/rumor has it that Leslee Smith may not be around this year. Can someone, without stepping on toes of the other sites privileged info, confirm?
Re: Men's basketball -- Who is here and who isn't?A list of what the roster is for 2010-11 would be helpful at this point with the rumors about Smith, just to see what we have to put on the floor.

Re: Men's basketball -- Who is here and who isn't?Right now, it looks like Pats, Clink, Haynes, Nyakundi, Dia as potential starters. JFrog, Walker, Luttman, Mangrum, Harp, TK, Barbre, Horn etc

Re: Men's basketball -- Who is here and who isn't?
What a huge blow. Smith was going to make an instant impact here "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
Re: Men's basketball -- Who is here and who isn't?not sure the summer for hoops could get much worse for the program.
what a downer
Re: Men's basketball -- Who is here and who isn't?Is anyone really surprised there is more bad news surrounding the program? Whether it is an asst. coach, player, or equipment manger leaving, this program is very unstable with no direction. Doherty should have been out of here 2 years ago but good old SMU keeps him around. Orsini is probably to blame for giving Doherty the contract he had but Orsini gets a pass for the football program doing so well now. I sure hope SMU starts giving away basketball tickets so more people go to the games but free tickets may not even work at this point.

I guess those games vs Angelina College will be entertaining buzzer beaters then

This made me laugh... Dallas Mavericks - 2011 NBA CHAMPIONS!
Long live the Circle of Champions!
Re: Men's basketball -- Who is here and who isn't?
Please, stop saying such a patently absurd thing. It would have been absolutely moronic to fire whoever our basketball coach was after only three years, right after the Tubbs debacle.
Re: Men's basketball -- Who is here and who isn't?
Not to mention the amount of money we'd have to pay in a buy-out. "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
Re: Men's basketball -- Who is here and who isn't?Let's get this straight on the buyout -- if the big donors want to see men's basketball succeed, they'll help Orsini get this done. If they don't care about it,.then we're stuck with him.
I think the donors want to get football really moving in the right direction before they turn their attention toward basketball. I have no idea how much longer Doherty has on the contract. All I know is that he has failed miserably here and ruined SMU's relationship in Dallas-Fort Worth and Texas in general. Last edited by George S. I disagree that he has ruined SMU's relationship with DFW. If you want to say he has done nothing to improve it, that's fine.
Re: Men's basketball -- Who is here and who isn't?It should be an indicator to see how we do in the first 5 games of the season.
