Sutton drops out
The DMN announced that Sean Sutton dropped out as a candidate yesterday. They also said that Copeland would meet with the search committee to discuss the six (6) candidates he had interviewed. We know two (2) of the candidates, let's find out the remaining four (4).

i'm glad sutton dropped out. i don't think he would have been the right choice because he would have bolted smu in a heart beat once daddy decided to leave ok st. i want a coach who is dedicated to building the smu program and having long term success...not a coach wanting to use smu as a stepping stone to a "better" job.
Re:
Again, as I said in another thread, there are coaches that want to come to SMU and get fat and happy. But the majority of coaches that come to SMU will listen to other offers when they come. If they had gotten any results, Cavan would have listened and Dement would have listened; Bennett, the good lord willing, will listen if he turns this thing around. And our next basketball coach probably will to. They are not going to get offers elsewhere unless they are successful. Frankly, it would be a nice problem to have.moodymadness wrote:i'm glad sutton dropped out. i don't think he would have been the right choice because he would have bolted smu in a heart beat once daddy decided to leave ok st. i want a coach who is dedicated to building the smu program and having long term success...not a coach wanting to use smu as a stepping stone to a "better" job.
BTW, don't read anything into Sutton pulling out. There could be a variety of reasons for it. Could be he didn't like SMU or the money SMU was willing to offer. Could be his daddy. Could also be he was never really considered; could be he saw the writing on the wall that he was not the top choice.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Maybe I'm forgetting .... who's been interviewed besides that guy from Michigan State?BigEasyPony wrote:The DMN announced that Sean Sutton dropped out as a candidate yesterday. Tubbs Interview
As I mentioned in another thread, Tubbs was interviewed on Wednesday while he is in town for the Big XII tourney. Sutton actually was never interviewed. He apparently called up Copeland to express his interest in the job simply as leverage to renegotiate with OSU. He was supposed to interview yesterday, but called to cancel.

WELL...
They always 'drop out' when they are no longer in contention
