I guess you were there in 2006? Sure you were. My son was in the band and I asked him just now and he said that is [deleted].

I've been to games at LSU, Vandy, Notre Dame, all the CUSA stadiums, Georgia, the SEC Champ game at the Georgia Dome, aTm, and TCU, and Tech fans, from my experience, were the least hospitable of the bunch.

As for your comments about when Tech played at SMU..I question the veracity of that argument, since about 20k of the 30k in attendance were Tech fans. How in the world would you have noticed SMU fans accosting you?

And, a number of us were there in 06. Yep, it happened. Had a bird's eye view of what CalAllen describes. That was the cold and rainy/misty game, right?

RaiderRed, listen to you. You honestly think that our student section was chanting "Tech Sucks, Tech Sucks" during the Matador song? Newsflash: they weren't, and even if they were, there are not enough students at our games for anyone to actually hear that.

Regarding 2006, ask your band director if it's still the same one. The Tech band (very nice people) stood around the SMU band, and police protection was required. SMU will be bringing police protection with them this year as well. Your son may not remember it because it's very hard to remember specifics of games when you go to 8 or 9 per year (I assume the Tech band still travels to a lot of road games?).

Regarding "the papers," the last time a lot of papers reported on the "Tier One" quest was August 19. Tech said they were "on a roll." UT-Arlington said that the momentum was in their favor. What to believe? Perhaps I'll believe the Texas Higher Education Commission.
Texas Higher Education Commissioner Raymund Paredes rained on the tier-one parade, saying it could take much longer to get the flagship designation — perhaps as long as 40 years.

Raider Red. I'll give Tech its due:

- I think it has a pretty campus (not counting those horrible buildings built in the 70s)

- It has a great dyslexia program

- It 's an alternative for the kids who can't get into UT but are smart enough not to want to join the cult in College Station.

- It's better than SFA or NTSU

But...

Tech is inferior to SMU in every way unless you want to major in Animal Husbandry. Lubbock is inferior to Dallas (Prairie Dog Town notwithstanding). No need to be ashamed of that. Most other schools fall into the same category. I'm glad you're proud of your school. Just don't be a d**K about it.

Oh, and one other thing. Be careful what you say about C-USA. When UT screws the rest of the Big XII/X ( and they will screw them), your alternatives might not be as attractive as you might think.

If I had wanted another high school degree I would've considered Texas Tech. It just seemed a bit redundant to me.

Wow another aghole response. A little more original please.

If I wanted to pay 4 times the price and get a third of the education, I would have gone to SMU. But I don't care for snobs and the smog hole you call Dallas. Enjoy the traffic.

Actually, the traffic here is really, really good. If you think Dallas traffic is actually bad, then clearly you haven't traveled very many places. I always get a kick out of people who think Dallas traffic is some unholy abomination.

Oh wow! Another typcial east texas aghole response. Nice try. Tech is as competitive to get into as UT or A&M. As far as smarter, ck the SAT scores or such of each student body. Pretty much the same these days. Nice try.

But...

Isn't this rich!? Now your trying to compare Dallas to Lubbock? I don't remember every saying Lubbock was superior to Dallas. Apples to Apples buddy.

As far as SMU superior to TECH. Now that is a joke. Last time I checked Tech's law school is superior to SMU's. What else you got? That at SMU you shielded by the real masses found on a state University campus. You learn about real life not an elitist view only. SMU is a commuter school in a smog hole that apparently has a inferiority complex to Tech. Just listen to yourself. Like I said, ya'll are so cute at this age.

Oh, and one other thing. Be careful what you say about C-USA. When UT screws the rest of the Big XII/X ( and they will screw them), your alternatives might not be as attractive as you might think.

Trust me, Tech will be fine. SMU on the other hand is one fan above being a Division I-AA school

Can't you come up with anything original. Sand Aggy? LOL...another Aghole saying.

I will put my 2 degrees from Tech up against yours and my bank account as well. I was self made. You, like most SMU grads, I imagine was given everything. I think it is called silver spoon. Go tell Daddy this big bad Tech guy is being mean to me.

Did you really just say that Tech's law school is better than SMU?

US News & World Report Rankings

SMU Dedman School of Law = 48
Sand Aggy School of Dirt = Tier 3

I'll also put my SMU undergraduate and MBA up against your Tech degrees champ. Go back to your cage.
