What a huge blow. Smith was going to make an instant impact here

If this is true about Smith then we might as well start singing.

This caught me totally off guard.

Without Smith or Vilde, count me in the crowd that thinks it will be next to impossible to fare better than we did last season.

However, don't worry- Doh enjoyed his San Diego vacation with the stars. Obviously his mind wasn't centered on building a winning team this next season. The Doh-doh bird must become extinct.

I don't think that is a fair characterization. While he was there he got a commit from a kid from San Diego for the class of 2011.

You can blame the guy for a whole, whole lot of things, but there is plenty enough factual info to burn him on without having to take shots that aren't warranted like this one. Just my 2 cents.

MI- with all due respect. I seriously doubt if Doh will be here after next season. If he is, the only people that will be at the games will be our team and the opposing team. His tweet hardly depicts a coach that was busting his butt recruiting. :x

Everything is speculative right now for a variety of reasons. IF Smith or Vilde are cleared, and some kids step up, we could beat up our awful OOC schedule, and improve the overall record enough to make firing the guy hard. Beyond that, the new O is an interesting take on this program, it's model etc. Love the hiring of Mangino.

Doh seems to be recruiting for system, so that's more direction than we've seen in a very long time, maybe early Dement. Basically, he has a zero tolerance policy from me. If he can fix this fast, I'm cheering for the team/program, cause I have no reason not to. Do I expect any of this to work? Not banking on it, but its interesting and has merit.

What doesn't hold water is accusing Doh of not recruiting cause of random twitter comments. Everyone agrees that his tweets stink and couldn't be more Highland Park, but the man spent all of July on the road. We only had 3 guys active, and he saw a ton of games during open evaluation, clearly looking to match the personel w/his new O, see Eric Norman. He can be accused of many things, and most would be fair, but considering many think he's gone, the program is very active recruiting. If he lands a good class, that furthers his cause. I don't think anything is written in stone yet

How long can this take? Are they on campus going to classes right now?

They are both on campus taking classes. Vilde looks like a prop candidate, and we'll see about Smith this week or so, I believe

a prop 48 candidate is a non-qualifier that's still admitted to the university. In Vilde's case, he grew up abroad and was raised on a very different system, so he didn't qualify based on platform, not intelligence. The school thought he could pass his classes etc. So, he's forced to redhsirt this year, and has 3 to play, unless he gets a certain GPA. In that case, he gets his 4th year back
