HD VideoboardIn its debut, I was pleasantly surprised that there were decent stats, replays, and the audio seemed about right. The video portion of the players running up the Boulevard was quite cheesy, but okay, it's something. However, the animated spinning red football bomb thingy, flying by the Dallas skyscrapers, and then exploding on Ford seemed a bit ill-timed with it being 9/11. Companies advertising on the top left of the screen are getting royally screwed, as you would need 16x magnification binoculars to read it.
PA guy was okay, except hearing him cough up a lung at one point. I sure hope he gets a stats guy (or if he has one, a better one) as he missed first downs, names, and other plays. At least he did not beg us to make some noise. Can we please get better sponsors than Public Service Plumbers? If we only had a marketing department...
Re: HD VideoboardI liked the scoreboard and the sound was fantastic. (I am not counting the problems with the official's mike). The cough was something else though.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: HD Videoboardthe brightest spot was when they didn't replay DJ's questionable td catch on the big board.
shows that things are improving with personnel.
Re: HD VideoboardEven better, they did replay it but they waited until after the extra point.

Re: HD Videoboardoh....at least, the people in the booth are learning.
I'm assuming they didn't show multiple close-up views of the catch/non-catch?
Re: HD Videoboardas one who is an enthusiastic fan, yet football rule impaired, i found the board itself difficult to read. but the picture was full of pretty colors...
i did think the flaming football was ill-timed, but i was more puzzled by the football team running toward the cap and gown clad professor. i found myself hoping they were going to tackle him. ![]()
Re: HD VideoboardThe pre-game intro showed on the channel-surfing feed. Everyone huddled around my laptop was really taken aback by the exploding football bomb in the stadium graphic. Horribly timed at best. Probably inappropriate any week.
Re: HD VideoboardThe pre-game video was awesome.
The one thing that was terrible was the commercial being played at the end of the game during our singing of the varsity (very Busch league( "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
Re: HD VideoboardDid no one else see the irony in American Airlines being one of the scoreboard sponsors on 9/11? Every time I saw the A/A logo, it reminded me of the A/A jets going into the World Trade Center.
Re: HD VideoboardSound was much better.
The ads on the top and bottom of the screen were a little "busy,", but overall, the video was better, too.
Re: HD VideoboardFirst SMU game day presentation was very good.
Now it will be interesting to see if we add new videos / improvements for each game. The new board is a tremendous tool we can use to get the fans pumped. Cough, cough - oh, there's my lung - excuse me.
Re: HD Videoboard
Everyone? taken aback? ![]()
Re: HD Videoboardagree, when the bomb football was heading to the Dallas skyline about to crash I couldn't believe they were going to some how glorify the twin towers coming down. Pure idiocy. Then it exploded, as though was a good thing. Someone should be fired.
Re: HD VideoboardBoard looked and sounded great. Pleasantly surprised.
Football bouncing off Dallas Hall and up to the universe was a bit cheesy.
Re: HD VideoboardAgreed: The video of the exploding football was mildly inappropriate no matter the circumstances. However, on September 11, it was unconscionable.
Agreed: The cough was shocking, but hey, he just missed the cough button. The announcing, while not perfect by any means, is so much better than in years past. From a design standpoint, I thought the score itself, game clock, time outs, etc. was too small on the video board. I found myself looking at the other end zone, since that board was far easier to read. And let's work on the frame rate of that video feed, please. The person who should be fired is the one that played the American Airlines commercial during "Varsity" and when they realized their error... didn't STOP it. They played the whole commercial, all the way through. Last edited by ender3 on Sun Sep 12, 2010 10:04 am, edited 1 time in total.
