We will never consistently get in the 30,000 range playing Rice or UAB or Tulsa or Tulane or any number of other CUSA schools.
I guess that is one of the few areas we disagree on today, Stal. I think SMU can get to a point where it is pulling in 30k consistently. I am not saying it will happen overnight, but I think SMU can do it.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

So how many standing-room only/endzone tickets were actually sold?

I think a quality SMU product could draw somewhere near the mid 20's no matter who we play but it will take YEARS of sustained success and a legitimate top 25 team before we are ever likely to see that. We've lost 20 years of students/now alumni who care about athletics and Dallas just doesn't identify with SMU. Now, if we were to trot out a top 10 caliber program with talent the likes of Eric Dickerson...

First off, I just want to say thanks in advance for having all of us frog fans into your stadium. I am riding up with some other corpus Christi alumni right now and we can not wait to get to the highland park area. Yall have a team that's really on the up and up and tcu better come out ready to play or we are going to be facing an unfortunate situation lime we did in 2005. Second, I was pleased to see that pony fans on the whole are not incredibly delusional or ridiculus as those freaking Baylor fans. For the most part you all are giving tcu the respect that I like to think we deserve. Can't wait to pull into Dallas in seven hours and start preparing for the game. I hope you all win out after this game and this becomes a match up of top twenty teams I'm the future, I know it has that possibility. See you all at the sold out ford tomorrow.

Did you guys float away with all that rain? And how are my Cats looking this year? Have a safe trip up, and may both teams get through tomorrow night with as few injuries as possible.

I have a bad feeling it is going to be like the Tech game a few years back when the stadium was 90% Tech Fans and they yelled "RAIDER....POWER" the whole game. Loudest I have ever heard the stadium. So embarrassing.

It wasn't 90% Tech fans. More like 50/50. But it sounded like 90% Tech fans because our fans don't know how to be loud.

Really? There will be plenty of purple but season tix + student section that actually shows up now + parents weekend makes me think it will be closer to a 60/40 ratio for SMU.

no kidding about the injuries. Last years game got a little physical what with throwing helmetless blocks and some cheapish shots from both sides. I still thing tanner brock is an insane fool for throwing that helmetless block on the punt return but I guess that's why his tcu Education is getting paid for by athletics and my education was paid by academics huh. His sack must be so huge I don't know how he runs. But on padre island we did not get too much flooding. My dog enjoyed jumping off the deck into the canal, due to the raised water level the jump was about an inch instead of the usual two feet so I guess that's a big difference to her. Calallen is doing ok, 2and2 with a 29 to 0 win over Carroll last week. All of the good teams are kind of off this year. Flour bluff, I graduated in 06 while playing tailback for the 2005 undefeated district champions (so what if I live in the past some, at least it is full of wins) is 2-3 now after loosing to Ray last night. They have a sophomore from Florida starting qb this year and he looks pretty good. Have not seen a calallen game so I will reserve judgement till I get out their and see firsthand.

I agree we should not be engaging in attendance smack. Sounds Baylorish. Curious to see the purple to red ratio at the game though. Should be fun. And to borrow (kinda) from Tropical Thunder: "and lots and lots of hotties... Playaaaaa...
Good Post! I hate attendance smack. Neither TCU nor SMU are Baylor.

So...it's kind of exciting, but you feel sort of ashamed after?

There's nothing shameful about midget wrestling.

Unfortunately, we didn't do much better than 36K average fans even during the Pony Express days. And that included visiting teams like UT, A&M, and TTU that put a lot of butts in the seats. Unfortunately, none of these big draw teams will even play us anymore. They would rather go to JerryWorld for one of his college weekends. Our fan base is small. We will just have to live with that and hope that we can get season ticket sales up to TCU's numbers. It would also help of some of the students would actually get to the game on time and stick around until at least the 4th quarter.
