For SMU defensive end Szymon Czerniak, the challenges on the road to his current spot as a regular in the Mustangs' defensive rotation was unlike that faced by any of his teammates. Forget the nomadic trail that included three position changes in the last three years — Czerniak also voluntarily underwent an operation that was a vital part of saving his sister's life.

Czerniak visited with PonyFans.com to discuss the experience of being a donor for his sister, overcoming the doubts of his own skeptics and how he has benefited from a more stringent eating and workout routine.
