Although I think Patterson is a slob I must give him credit for not running up the score. IMO he could have scored one or two more TDs if he had wanted to. At the end of the game our D was exhausted and very vulnerable.

He is a good coach and a good team but not necessarily "clean" program. "Clean" compared to others but the DB out of Jay HS down here they are recruiting was told not to worry about his test scores as they and he would be taken care of, and the DL at Roosevelt they looked at before OU got on board was told the same thing. Not saying that is wrong because others do it, but don't say that what they do is totally "clean"

Let him run his weak sauce, cause Jones is catching him quickly. We're about 2 or 3 years recruiting from fighting them in the tunnel, screw the field
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

If you watch the game again, pay close attention to Gary's "sweat towel" girl. Watch her facial expressions as she has a close-up view of him running that towel all over his sweaty-self. The whole time knowing he is going to be handing that formerly dry towel back to her.

He did call a time out with 3 minutes left and then go for it on 4th down...

IIRC he called the TO because the play clock had run down to almost 0. On the 4th and 1 play I think he could have tried a FG. My impression was that he was just trying to run out the clock- maybe not.

Patterson could be in denial because time is winding down on his programs supremacy of college football in this area. It's coming. He knows it. The game revealed it. We need a little more depth in the trenches and the qb needs to trust the system but the trend is favorable.

That clean program comment is a crock. Show me a coach who is a clean recruiter and I'll show you the late mother theresa. The recruting game is a racket, has been a racket and will always be one. We've decided to get back in the hopper.

We lost the game but gained so much. I continued to be impresses how far this program has come in such a short time. I'm frustrated I couldn't be there, but like I said after Tech, it's coming. And if this season unfolds like we think it could, I like our chances in FW next year.

Beat Rice!

I have no issue with Patterson personally. I don't call him fat or bash his appearance. I admire and respect the job he does. But this "SMU prepared for this game all Spring" is goofy. It isn't as if tcu's offense or defense is unique, like navy's offense. I recall Bennett spending an inordinate amount of time prepping for Rice in 2005 out of pure embarrassment. Fact is this little team that TCU beat is pretty good and will be favored next week, might be the odds favorite to win its conference this year and might be favored in every game it plays the rest of the season.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

IMO, the timeout was so that he could run the play clock down to nothing, and then decide if he wanted to punt or go for it. By going for it on 4th down, he has the chance to run out the game clock as well without giving us the ball back. I had no problems with his play calling or clock management there.

What I did find interesting was that he left in Dalton, and Dalton even had a few running plays in their last drive. Why would you risk your starting QB, up by 17 in the last 2 minutes of that game? We had a chance to score 1 more time, 2 more times, if and only if we recovered an onside kick. Then, not even a snowball's chance in hell to score 3 times, recovering 2 onside kicks in the process. Dalton gets hurt, his perfect season could have gone with it.

Yes, that time out was just good clock management by Patterson.

More fodder for you'all...last night he on the ESPN interview, he said that SMU went through the neighborhoods, going door to door trying to get fans to attend the game. Then made additional denials that this was a big game for them. Just play Gary, you will begin to care, care a whole lot in the next few years!

I dont mind Sumlin so much. Then Bailiff, Price, and Graham on the bottom

So Stallion wants us to adore other coaches like he does? I respect Patterson as a very good coach, but, that guy is always furious at the other team for some reason. Mind your own businss Stallion, did you do your part and bring someone to the game? Did you buy extra tickets? Or, did you just show up by yourself as always? Who cares what "cracks you up", it's pretty obvious that with out this message board, you would be talking to the wind.
