When you hold a June Jones offense to 14-35 passing for 169 yards and the QB can't even get a pass off on 15 plays then you have shut down the Run and Shoot. They had Padron completely dumstruck out there. Teams are going to let us have that delayed draw. If we can't pass effectively this offense will not work

Once again, you contradict yourself...

You have stated numerous times that Padron is still only starting his 10th game and should be treated as such....

O-line gave him plenty of time....WRs were very average...overall we are better than most teams we will play the rest of the year...

Give Kyle this year and lets see how he progresses...

He didnt look very good vs UAB...I would say the 2 defenses didn't look much different ...

TCU = number 24....not #4

You get way to emotional and completely lose perspective. You don't think TCU has a great team and a superlative defense. Go listen to what June Jones has to say. He ain't just blowing smoke. TCU takes away whatever the other team does best-that's why they annually have one of the nation's best defenses. Patterson took away June Jones vaunted passing game-poof!. 4.8 yards per passing attempt not counting the numerous times Padron was frustrated and simply couldn't find anyone to throw it to. They really don't have much more to prove despite your lack of perspective. TCU has shut down running teams and shut down passing teams for years including both Mike Leach and June Jones

I actually think they are effectively exploiting the BCS system.

Being from Texas helps tremendously...they have the best non-BCS recruiting classes, then go out and whip inferior non-BCS conference mates, 5 of which are extremely weak. Add 2 or 3 easy non-conference games, and all you have to do is win 2 or 3 games a year against similar talent and you have an undefeated season and a BCS bowl game.

Not bad.

That is what I hoped we would do after the death of the SWC, and joined the WAC.

But I guess Pye, and firing (Rossley), or sidelining (Gregg) a few NFL caliber coaches derailed that.
May the forth be with us.

It would be nice to think TCU is the 4th best team in the country as that would indicate SMU is very close to being able to play with the big boys, because that game was more competitive than the final score suggests.

Aside from an obviously dominant team like Bama and maybe Ohio State this year, who can say which team is #4? Bottom line is that TCU has the talent and depth to compete at a top 10 level and that's one heck of an accomplishment. I think JJ has us on a path to join them at an elite level. Can't wait for TCU's next visit to Ford.

In college football this year there is Alabama and everyone else. Given that, I have no problem with TCU being #4. Do I think they could go into the Swamp and pull one out against Florida? Yes. Do I think the could go into Columbus and beat Ohio State? Yes (I think Ohio State is really over rated and don't play anybody unless they have to). After 'Bama a lot of those teams are interchangeable.

What is going to happen to TCU in the end is the reputation of the BCS Conferences. It won't be about the quality of TCU's team, but the reputation of the other teams' conferences. In the end TCU will get screwed and have no shot at the title. Will it be fair or just... No.

I think TCU is a very good team. They play and win with class.
The same can not be said about the Houston or Tech teams of old.

However, #4 in the country? I would expect a #4 team to manhandle and push a team of SMU's size and youth all over the field. Remember the OKla State game 4-5 years ago. They weren't #4 but that is what a men vs boys game looks like.

To answer the question of #4 does TCU beat:
Alabama - no
Florida - no
LSU - no
Texas - no
Oklahoma - maybe
Ohio state - no
USC - no
Nebraska - No
Penn State - no
Michigan - maybe.

I wish TCU could schedule some of those teams to see if a non AQ team can beat the traditional powers. I think TCU is a top 15 team.

Florida is not plying that well this year either and is probably ranked too high. Also, no they could not go to Ohio State and win nor could they go to some other SEC teams or Big 12 teams and win. And speaking of overrated, TCU fits that description. I don't see how the BCS people could have them playing for a national championship with that strategically weak schedule.

A little confused by this thread. Be happy with how you played.

You should have beat Tech. #6 UT didn't do anything against them either.

SMU is a good team that played well.

TCU ain't going anywhere. Their last 3 recruiting classes can only be described as outstanding. There will be a slight opening for an upset next year because TCU is replacing so many seniors but the game is in Ft Worth and TCU will be replacing with quality recruits that are more talented than any non-BCS team. I bet 4 star QB Casey Pachall replaces Dalton will barely anyone noticing. They are young and deep at RB. If SMU wants to beat Patterson and TCU they are going to have to continue to significantly improve their recruiting for several years. SMU is recruiting better but still significantly trails TCU in talent acquisition. While the effort was there-SMU played extremely hard-losing by 17 at home shows there is still a significant talent disparity between the 2 programs

TCU could beat Texas or Tech. People overrate AQ conferences as there are plenty of bad teams in those conferences - see Baylor. TCU is good enough to play in any conference. Is Texas really that good or are they getting their rating from past good teams. AQ teams schedule plenty of cream puffs in non conference games. I think we are a lot closer than we though as the Hawaii Bowl and our results at Tech and TCU show.

You have higher standards now?

Losing by 17 to the #4 team in the country = high standards.
Losing by 17 to a #20 - #25 team = Your standards aren't that high.

You choose.
