No. 4 TCU allows LB-turned-RB to run for 139 yards

Line is a linebacker-turned-running back who was used as a short-yardage specialist last year. He had some good games early this season, so it's not like it was a surprise when he got the ball Friday night.

Yet the Horned Frogs (4-0) rarely seemed prepared to handle him, especially on the draw. He rumbled 17 times for 139 yards, gaining 40 yards more than any of TCU's three previous foes.

He averaged 8.2 yards per carry, and had a 29-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Line was a big reason the Mustangs (2-2) notched the most points, most yards and most yards rushing against TCU this season.

that headline is so telling...from a BCS perspective; anything to "put down" a NAQ program.

I don't know whether TCU deserves to be ranked as the 4th best team in the country and I don't know if Boise deserves to be #3, but from where I sit, these teams are talented and deep enough to compete with anyone in the top 10...but they may never get the opportunity to do so in a BCS showcase bowl game.

I count 21 BCS schools currently unbeaten and would guess as many as 10 of them would pass TCU and Boise and play for the national championship before either TCU or Boise would be given that opportunity.

At this point, I hope both TCU and Boise run the table so the BCS is pressured to let them play somebody else this year. Let them play a BCS conference champion or at least a runner up.

Be careful in the disparagement you show to Non AQ teams, Charleston. the way the Ponies are going, they will be one of those non BCS teams going undefeated in short years to come, and then what will you say? There are "21 other undefeated BCS teams" who'll get there a lot faster? No, TCU deserves where it is, and SMU deserves to have the same kind of treatment when it gets there in a year or two.

Re-read his post, it is the system, not the NAQ teams he was criticizing. He supports both TCU and BSU but suggests the system will attempt to allow less qualified AQ's pass them in the polls.

I don't think so at this point, as TCU and BSU are already way up in the polls Look especially at "whipping boy" Saturday in the Big Ten this weekend (Austin Peay?), these teams won't even get credit for playing this weekend, who do they think they are fooling with these phantom games?

If TCU and BSU go undefeated again, they will play each other again and it will not be for the NC unless every other AQ team in the top ten has 2 or more losses. The cartel will not allow either of them to play for the NC.

I certainly agree with your point that they won't allow both teams to compete for the NC. But, if Alabama get knocked off, I doubt any team in the SEC will be undefeated, leaving a spot against OSU. I don't think anyone in the Big 12 will be considered, except for Nebraska that may go undefeated.

I'll make this clear: if TCU and BSU were the only undefeated teams in the country at the end of the season, neither team would be in the national championship game. The BCS is an illegal monopoly funded by the media. A lawsuit challenging it could be successful, but no one will file because they want part of that media money too. In my view, this is only going to be broken up if the feds step in to sue or find a reason to prosecute.

That is perhaps the most impressive part — 8.2 yards per carry against that much-ballyhooed defense is almost unbelievable.

let's face it...TCU and Boise need Oregon State to win out and win the PAC 10 for credibility. Va Tech already laid an egg and hurt Boise in the process.

As I look down the top 10 listing, I see programs like Fla, Auburn, LSU, Big 10, PAC 10 and even OU and Nebraska...all as teams that will likely pass TCU and Boise in the polls based on "strength of schedule". Clearly if any of those teams in the stronger conferences go unbeaten, they deserve a shot at the championship before either TCU or Boise, but more than likley, we will see a one loss SEC team against a one loss Big 10 or even PAC 10 or Big XII team before we will see either TCU or Boise.

Bottom line is that the non AQ conferences need to earn respect. SMU needs to beat Texas Tech, UAB needs to beat Tenn, BYU needs to beat Fla State for goodness sake, etc, etc, etc...before that's going to happen.
