It's so hard to see from the stands, but I heard several remark that Padron seems to be locking on his receivers.

First thing I noticed also is that he locks down on one receiver and forces the ball to him, or runs for his life. High school, College, NFL...this is something inexperienced qb's do and I'm confident he'll start looking at more of the field as the season progresses. He might've been worried about the pressure last night and felt like he wouldn't have the time to go through normal progressions, so I'll give him a break. I'm still confident in KP, he'll improve in conference play

Padron is great! When you play the number 4 team in the country with the top-ranked pressure defense from the past few years, a qb tends to not look at his best. So....who looked better, Padron or Robert Griffin? Padron is trying to make things happen but it is hard when TCU's secondary and linebackers are better-coached and/or athletic than our receivers! Hardly anybody was ever open so what do you do as a qb....hold it a little longer, throw it away or force it in for an int? We will be better in conference with more equally-talented matchups both in coaching and players. This is not a knock on our guys because not many teams are gonna matchup with TCU's def or off.

Can't agree about the coaching, but agree about the talent match-ups. In fact I think SMU out coached TCU last night and that is why the game was so close. They are clearly bigger, faster, and more experienced than we are. They have been out recruiting us for years. It is our coaching that is making us competitive and helping us improve the talent level through recruiting. As far as Padron, he is not back to Bowl level yet. I can't help but believe playing against a top defense like TCU was a great teaching and confidence building experience. Out practice squad is just not comparable to TCU. Quarterbacks, indeed all players, grow in games. What we know is he is tough, he is not getting his passes off fast enough, he is missing reads, and he is not making many mistakes. I hope and believe he continues to grow and improve.

Padron took a shot to the ribs early in the game on what was one of many late hits to SMU's QB. I saw at least a half dozen (seemed like 20) late hits on Padron and only one was called. A couple of these were when he was already on the ground. Were these Mountain West refs or just idiots?

It's pretty clear that TCU's intent was to knock Padron out of the game as early as possible. Makes you wonder if that classless Patterson had a bounty on him. Yes, I said bounty. I guess their game plan worked because I'm sure Padron played hurt for most of the night and struggled as a result.

If these had been clean hits, or at least penalized for God's sake, then last nights game would be a little easier to accept. I guess the referees decided to just let thugs be thugs. That is a rogue program Patterson's running over in Fort Worth and it needs to be called out as such. Screw you, frogs.

I hope we have a bounty on every QB we play. Judging from how much JaGared blitzes, I'd say we do.

yep, it's just the name of the game. sometimes you give, sometimes you get.
I think, KP got his share last night. like JJ said, "tough enough to play with the big boys".

Kyle is an amazing talent. He had Shawnbrey (very very good outlet reciever that could take a swing pass and turn the corner) and Emmanual Sanders (first reciever in the NFL from SMU since I was born) last year. Darrius has great promise, but lets let the group grow through out the year before we condemn one guy for a 'team' performance.

What's so ridiculous about wanting to see an occasional flag when your QB is getting drilled time and time again AFTER he has either released the ball or is already down? TCU players were often coming down on Padron elbow first, without consequence and you apparently don't have the slightest problem with that. I would call your apathy toward SMU not getting a few personal fouls called their way last night pretty ridiculous.

I don't think it was a ridiculous comment about late hits on KP the other night--I think it is right on. I know we all want everything to happen so fast, but this was what, his 13th start? Last year, he came in, and compared to this year, probably didn't have any pressure on him. When he came in, I'm pretty sure we had already lost that game. Not only is he missing guys who have left, he really is an inexperienced young man who is the starting QB this year. He does hold on to the ball too long and I was thrilled to see him throw it in the sidelines Friday night. He has played against some really experienced, tought teams and I think he is improving. I give him credit from being able to keep getting up after taking some big hits---and late ones in Fridays game, too. I think he needs to loosen up some and go out and maybe try to have fun when he is out there.
