Padron's performance yesterday was noble — sure, his accuracy isn't 100 percent dead-on yet, but damn, that man is tough.
Agree that if the defense plays that way, we're going to beat a lot of C-USA teams. Once the offense clicks, we're going to turn some of those conference wins into routes.
I don't expect us to run the table, and I still foresee an upset somewhere along the way that we shouldn't have — part of the growth process.
If Line keeps this up, will he get all-conference votes?
I disagree — slightly — with West Coast Johnny. It's not that their athletes on special teams were better. The difference is our special teams had a lot of offensive and defensive starters — their guys were fresh, and ours were getting worn out.
Dalton is boring as hell, but he's really good. Don't sell him short — he's not flashy, but he's smart. Gets his guys in and out of plays very well, knows when to check down and knows when to audible. Glad that guy is done this year.
Difference in tackles does reflect a difference in the systems each team plays. In the 3-4, the defensive linemen often are asked to take on blockers so the linebackers can make plays. In the 4-3, the defensive linemen have more chances to make tackles themselves.
Can't believe I'm actually writing this, but I can't wait to go to Fort Worthless next year.
