- Where is Mike Loftus? Did he grey shirt last year and is redshirting this year? I would think he could help in our kicking game. I just want to someone to have a touchback and not net 20 yards a punt.
-How about Jeremy Johnson, I believe he got in one play against WSU and that was it and it was a running play if im not mistaken. Are we waiting to unveil him in conference or did we burn his redshirt on a running play.
-Same with Kevin Pope i believe he has gotten in on one play. I know Zach is the man and I dont want to replace him but why put Pope in on one play?
- Where is Kaiser? Are we only dressing two QB's? As much as Kyle gets his face put in the turf you would think we might at least dress another one. Is B Smith our emergency third stringer?
Not complaining just curious.

I think that B Smith os the emergency QB. No reason to pull a redshirt off of Kaiser unless we went through something like happened to Houston.
I would hope that Pope will get some more time along with Fields now that we are done with the "big boys". But it still depends on picking up blocking schemes for both of them.
From what I have heard Loftus is redshirting.
Nothing heard on Johnson. I still think there may be some "wildcat" plays with him that are being saved for the conference schedule.
One thing I am learning about Jones is that he sets specific goals and and toes the line in trying to obtain them. Last year was the Hawaii Bowl. He never would talk about the Conference Championship even though it was in play. This year it is the Conference Championship. While I am certain he wanted to win last week, and did all he felt he should to do so, I would imagine that he has a lot more planned in the way of offense for the balance of the Conference play.

Someone will correct me if I a wrong but... I think a player can play a certain number of plays in the first three games... and still is able to redshirt. Like pre-season test and then back on the practice squad.

Not unless rules have changed. If they have a season ending injury within the first 20% of games played they can be eligible for medical hardship but it must be documented as a season ending injury. One play and the redshirt is burned unless someone can show me a rule stating otherwise.

I'm assuming that Kaiser won't even be in the mix this year. someone posted that he had mono and missed fall camp, or at least, most of it. with the amount of down-time, I can't imagine he could be ready for anything save for perhaps a bowl game, but then what would be the point? Kyle looks tough enough to weather the season, and McDermott a capable back-up. I have assumed that Braden would be the 'emergency' qb, if both went down.

you're right. here's an excerpt from the ncaa site: " You should know that NCAA rules indicate that any competition, regardless of time, during a season counts as one of your seasons of competition in that sport. It does not matter how long you were involved in a particular competition (for example, one play in a football game, one point in a volleyball match); you will be charged with one season of competition." http://www.ncaa.org/wps/portal/ncaahome ... asons.html

loftus won't play this year. JJ would prefer to have matt handle all the kicking than burn his RS this year i think.
same with kaiser. no need to burn a RS at this point with JJ and braden.
wondering the same thing as you about pope, though.

I thought our secondary played very well. They covered well and supported the run like demons. The best our secondary has played all year.
I doubt any of the 2nd team played as much as the previous couple of games. I noticed the front 7 had less substitutions against TCU then UAB or WSU. The level of competition probably dictated that level of play for our starters. I would guess the same was true for the secondary.
The D is starting to gel in the front 7 AND secondary. And perfect timing as well for conference play.
Overall, our over matched, out manned D play very well.

Pope ran at least twice against UAB. Regarding QBs, we've got the following guys on the roster as QBs. Don't know how many are dressing: Embody Foster Kaiser McDermott Padron
