Its my favorite Doh era past time: counting the schools I didn't even know existed on the SMU men's basketball schedule. This year we have 3 winners: Wayland Baptist, McMurry, and Dallas Christian. I'm just surprised Huston-Tillotson isn't around this year to provide another 4-point nail biter!

And it's my favorite pastime to read everyone whine about the schedule. The schedule aint our problem. Let's see if Doh can right this ship -- he appears to be doing everything right now to do exactly that. Like the coaching hires, like the incoming players and recruits.

It should be obvious to even the most casual observer that our bball schedule is pathetic for a
D-1 school. It looks like it was done to try and get enough wins to keep DOH. After 4 years of terrible results he doesn't deserve to be at SMU.

No, but the schedule's not our problem. Our problem has been X's and O's and personnel. We've taken some steps to fix both of those. Right now we need the W's.

Doh will either play his way in or out of this job. That's the reality of being a coach on the hot seat. If Orsini were so gung-ho to fire Doh and hire a new guy(BCG), which is what many implied mid-season, why would he have written off on this schedule? Why would he have hired a search firm for assistant coaches, as opposed to starting over, or just status quo hires? If we wanted to start over, this schedule would have been murderers row. Instead, the AD invested in a new direction for the program under the same head coach. Answer me this, why would the head brass agree to take on the 4 out, 1 in, knowing full well it can't be mastered in a year, or w/o the proper personnel?

Some people need to grow up, and realize that your blinding hatred for Doh, has you cheering against the kids. Beyond that, Orsini is at the controls, not Doh. Doh isn't even in charge of the 0 or D anymore. Are there people here that think we can do better than Doh as lead recruiter, when that's his priority responsibility? Quit w/the drive-by message boarding(red pony), and grasp what's actually the thought process of the decision-makers.

This is a schedule they should beat. If they do get 20 wins vs this crap, are you guys really going to be dissapointed heading into '11 w/the way the roster is shaping up? Generate some momentum, no matter what.

The reality is he is a crappy coach who has sucked millions out of this university and we can only hope there is no way he returns after this season.

Regarding SO- he has not done much here since his arrival. i.e. - what teams have better records during his tenure than before? bball?- nope, mens soccer- nope, womens soccer- nope. etc, etc. The only positive is fball and he was not the main driver in getting JJ here. Who in their right mind would give a coach without major credentials a contract for 5-7 years without considerable performance clauses (wins, placing in conference etc.) in it? How many top 25s do we have? Wasn't his credo 'top 25 in everything that we do'?
Perhaps, just perhaps, this is why SO has not been given a new contract since his expires next year.

I'm not pro-Doh at all, never have been. Just keenly aware of the way this job is perceived in the industry, and understand what it took to rehab the position. You never ever say anything of worth redpony, just drive-by hate. You've never taken time to understand my position, nor do you know anything about the inner workings of the program currently, to even adequately discuss.You just admitted that you hate Doh to the point of cheering against SMU. "we can only hope there is no way he returns after this season', isn't exactly code for "i hope the kids lose.' Get some perspective, it'll all play out one way or another.

As for Orsini, you are correct, he's a bum.
