You might want to think twice before ordering SMU plates from myplates.com. At least the actual plates I got didn't look very much like what the website showed. The Mustang color is way off.

They are going to do mine over and I'll let you know if they get it right this next time.

They may not go on anything if they can't get the color right, but I was planning on putting them on my Explorer. SMU would get more exposure that way as the Triumph doesn't get out on the road much.

Interesting...looks like a big red "x".

So is the color of the Mustang correct?

This is what the SMU plate looked like on their website when I ordered my plates.

Since I have been complaining about my pink Mustang, I noticed today that they have changed the SMU plate on their website to this.

I have now tolded them lots of luck on finding any SMU fan that will order that plate.

WTF? The first SMU plates the state offered had a microscopic Mustang.

Now the new style has a pink Mustang?

Someone's messing with us.

At least it's the right Mustang.

My guess is it's supposed to be a "faded" Mustang so that the plate number is clearly readable. I doubt they can legally produce the dark red that was in the original rendering. I'm interested to see what the Bevo version looks like - if it's faded, too. If not, then we've got a beef.

This is what my plate would look like based upon my order.

I don't see legibility being a problem. As a result of my complaint, they are sending everything back through the State to see if possibly the specifications got screwed up from the officially approved version to what they were actually manufacturing. I'm waiting to see what they come up with. They changed the display on the website until they know for sure what the final product is going to look like after the review by the State.

Well, the State has gotten things fixed and the Mustang is now red like it should be. They have to screen it down a little, but evidently they got their screening numbers screwed up and were making it so light it looked pink. As I said they have it squared away now.

1) Props to you PK for making a difference
2) So all plates going forward should be red? The 'example' on their website is still pink
