Didn't they do this same thing about 15, 16 years ago when they went ofer in football in 88? That was about the time they broke the losing streak against us in our first game back from the DP.

Faculties always complain about the expense of college athletics. The result will be a push to get more contributions from the booster club. With Rice going into C-USA, the tactic will likely raise money and quiet the faculty. The age old answer is "if Stanford can do it, so can any other academically respectable private school."
