SMU Postgame Notes – October 2, 2010

RECORDS

Kyle Padron (QB)
- Had 371 yards passing, which ties for 14th in a game at SMU.
- Had 395 yards of total offense (371 passing, 24 rushing). That ranks 11th in a game at SMU.

Aldrick Robinson (WR)
- Had 148 yards receiving (6 catches) for his the ninth 100-yard game of his career; that ties for second at SMU (Emmanuel Sanders 16, Emanuel Tolbert 9)
- Had 2 TD receptions and now has 6 for the season and 22 for his career; that ties for third at SMU
- Had 6 receptions and now 138 for his career; that ranks ninth at SMU
- Had 148 receiving yards and now has 2434 for his career; that moves him into third at SMU

TEAM NOTES

SMU improves to 2-0 in Conference USA for the second straight season. SMU last started league play 3-0 in 1986

This is SMU’s first win at Rice since 1986 (45-3 on 9-13-1986)

This is SMU’s largest road win since a 28-14 victory at Tulsa on 11-20-1999

Sterling Moore had a 32-yard interception return for a TD. It was SMU’s first interception return for a TD since Rock Dennis against East Carolina on Oct. 10, 2009.

Had two 100-yard receivers (Cole Beasley 158, Aldrick Robinson 148). That is the first time SMU had a pair of 100-yard receivers since the 2009 Hawaii Bowl vs. Nevada (Robinson 176, Emmanuel Sanders 124)

- Yards per play (8.9), also June Jones era high

SMU had a blocked FG (by Youri Yenga) that was returned 77 yards for a score by Ja’Gared Davis. It was SMU’s third blocked kick this season.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

Cole Beasley (WR)
- Had a career-high 158 receiving yards. It is his first 100-yard game.
- Tied his career high with 8 receptions

Chris Butler (RB) - Season-highs of 8 rushes and 32 rushing yards

Richard Crawford (DB) - Had his first interception

Ja’Gared Davis (LB)
- Had a sack and now has 6.0 for the season and 8.0 for his career. He has had at least one sack in each of the five games this season.
- Had a 77-yard blocked FG return for a TD, his first career TD

Patrick Fleming (TE) - Had a 7-yard TD reception, the first of his career

Kevin Grenier (DE) - Had the first sack of his career

Margus Hunt (DE) - Had a sack and now has two for the season and 4.5 for his career

Zach Line (RB) - Had a rushing TD, his fifth on the season and 12th of his career

Sterling Moore (CB)
- Had a 32-yard interception return for a TD, the first TD of his career.
- It was his second straight game with an interception. He now has three picks for his career.

Kyle Padron (QB)
- Had 3 TD passes; he now has 13 for the season and 23 for his career
- Had 371 yards passing for his third career 300-yard game. That ties for 14th in a game at SMU.
- His 51-yard pass to Aldrick Robinson was the eighth 50-plus yard pass of his career (also had two 49-yard completions in the game)
- Had 395 yards of total offense (371 passing, 24 rushing). That ranks 11th in a game at SMU.

Taylor Reed (LB) – Had a career-high 15 tackles

There were a lot of injuries tonight. I hope most of them were cramps, but I'd be interested in any reports from anyone. Pretty impressive turnout for the game tonight. I enjoy watching SMU win!

JJ said pretty much exactly that about the injuries while saying he couldn't say in the PG interview. Even said he couldn't say a couple times. Love it when we get such detailed non-information about things about which there can be nothing said.
