Houston Trip travel notes

Postby couch 'em » Mon Oct 04, 2010 2:04 pm

Sadly, I had to miss the Rice game to attend a rehersal dinner Saturday night for a cruise ship wedding on Sunday in Galveston. A couple items:

1. Did anyone else see the 18-wheeler trailer just south of Dallas on the east side that said something like "SMU LETTERMENS ASSOCIATION THANKS STEVE ORSINI"? Anyone know the story on that?

2. I didn't make it to Woody's in Centerville there or back. It was sad.

3. I did stop at Buck-ee's in Madisonville for the first time. That place is well worth stopping. The Beaver Nut is great.

4. Which one of you was driving a white pickup truck back to Dallas Sunday afternoon with SMU big red SMU magnets on the doors and tailgate? It was nice seeing that drive by. On a related note, I was cruising about 85 mph and that truck blew by me. I wouldn't have thought you could get that thing over 100...

5. On 45 almost in Galveston there is a dog racing track. Dog racing - a fun adventure, or white trash horse racing?

The 18-wheeler has been there for several years now.

Regarding Woody's, the will Fedex order to you if you call or fax it in. I do it several times a year when the jerky and salmon seasoning supplies run dry.

I used to go to the dog track every now and then when I was in high school. It was built back in 1990 or so. Haven't been in about 17 years. It was fun, but nothing to get excited about.
