Re: YENGA De-commitsYeah, I have been to Waco. It ain't great, but it's still better than a lot of other places...like 98% of Pennsylvania. It's still Texas, there's a major university there, and it's two hours to Dallas/Austin. It isn't as bad as being isolated in some dying, burnt-out coal mining time in the Rust Belt. Lawrence Kansas ain't much to look at, and it gets a lot colder there as well.
Re: YENGA De-commitsWaco makes Denton look like a fantastic option.

Re: YENGA De-commitsHey what's wrong with PA? They have mountains, lakes, rivers, lots of deer to hunt. There's a bar on every street corner. Of course they do have Philly and Pittsburgh which are the places where if America needed an enema that's where the hose would go.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: YENGA De-commitsCentral Pennsylvania without a doubt is one of, if not the most depressing place imaginable. Short of a desert or an asteroid, it's just simply miserable.
Re: YENGA De-commitsQuestion: When someone retracts a verbal commitment, as in the Yenga case, can the coaching staff retract the offer, if they so choose ? Or, do we have some kind of written offer that remains outstanding until the player officially signs ?
Re: YENGA De-commitsSince we have witnessed offers pulled from kids that were committed, I am quite certain you can pull an offer from a decommit if you so desire.

Re: YENGA De-commits
it looks like the only thing binding is when the Letter of Intent is executed. up until then, all 'commitments' are verbal and non-binding on all parties. I dug this up: "In the fickle world of college football recruiting, the only sure thing is a letter of intent" http://www.nj.com/sports/index.ssf/2010/01/post_3.html

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: YENGA De-commitsWe can drop the "yea, but it is Waco", but what about the obvious and what should be the most important thing for 97% of recruits--academics. Their academics ranks right down there with their football program.
Re: YENGA De-commitsi don't know why anybody would choose to go to baylor. I think UT, ATM, Tech, SMU, TCU, and maybe even UNT are clearly better choices.
Re: YENGA De-commitsWell, clearly, enough people decided on Baylor for one reason or another to keep a large, private university in business, Waco, academics and all. Unless you're doing something fine arts, thinking NTSU is better than Baylor is absolutely laughable.
Re: YENGA De-commitsif you are going to be a mediocre school, at least be good at something. UNT has their music/fine arts type stuff. what exactly is baylor's appeal?
