CA Mustang, I appologize. Your frustration with USC's sanctions is as great as mine over SMU's. I didn't realize you were a fan and supporter, I only thought you were disagreeing with my right to have an opinion, whether based on fact, simple logic or stories related to me by major supporters of other Pac Ten schools. There is no way I can win this debate any more than someone trying to tell me that in the eighties, the rest of the SWC and OU weren't playing the same recruiting game. Sorry to have opened this can of whip-[deleted].

Mex, I have no problem with people having opinions. Discussing issues is what this board is about.

In situations such as what happened at USC, some folks like to present hearsay and rumors as fact. The NCAA's report is publicly available, so anyone can read it and discuss what WAS found. I put very little weight on exaggerations or third hand rumors from competing schools.

I wasn't at SMU in the mid-80's and I'm sure the situation was even more devastating. Granted the media climate and technology were quite different, but we've seen the resulting damage.

That's a question for the IRS. Though how does the IRS tax trips and free home rental? Unless I missed something, the title to the house was never in the Bush family's name.

There's a big difference under NCAA rules between cheating by a representative of a universities' interests and cheating by an NFL Agent who has no affiliation to a particular university

Alumni paying players to induce them to enroll at a particular school is substantially different than NFL agents paying players already at a particular school to sign with them for their NFL career

You people are crazy ....
I dare anyone to read that article and then rationally come to the conclusion that say Whats Amatter U. should be subject to Severe NCAA penalties such as the Death Penalty for the sleazy activities of street agents with no affiliation with a university.
