Youth summer football camps

Postby Mexmustang » Wed May 05, 2004 10:21 am

I have been asked by two boys if SMU (Bennett) has a summer football camp for average junior high school players. Does anyone have any information about SMU or other area camps this summer?

There is a series of camps from Jr. High through High School. Look to the university football website for complete information.

8) The football office has put out some first class, full color brochures advertising their football camps this summer. It has all the info in it. The brochure is a very positive p.r. move on Coach Bennett's part.

And a great recruiting tool. Because every player who attends SMU camps must sign with the Ponies if offered a scholarship by Coach Bennett and his staff.

More and more recruiting is done each year at these camps. After the June camp, I think we'll start to see some players join Chris Hall in next year's recruiting class. Summer camps are approaching the season and January (recruiting) among the most important times of the year. Coaches can hit the golf course or go fishing, etc., the rest of the year, but they need to be their most charismatic selves during those camps. They're crucial.
