Overheard at Navy game between SMU cheerleader and Navy woman fan thing

"That's great the cheerleaders get to come

We really wanted to come to the game so we paid our own way here

Oh, that is terrible, what team does that???"

And then they left mumbling

Also overheard at the game when the Navy player had this helmet knocked off.

"Oh, that SMU player just illegally ripped our player's helmet off!"

Audible murmuring agreement between the group of four.

You behaved about their drum and bugle corps, didn't you?

Just making sure.

Of course. DBB and his dad were a few seats over. I do know how to behave. My hat took a beating though.

Well, I hope you had a great time. Hope you had the chance to tour the academy or something close to that. What a great opportunity that must have been.

I want to visit West Point.

Raplh and I did indeed meet a mom and dad from Delaware who followed our adventures. They brought their daughter to the game who is hoping to be accepted to SMU. Raplh was not happy I revealed our identities.

I'd like to see more of a vertical passing game. Let's throw it downfield to stretch the D, and see if Alrdick can run under it. He runs a 4.3 for crying out loud. I understand the 3-5 yard pass is a staple of the run n shoot, but on the last drive I wanted to cry seeing us not throw anything into the second level of the defense.

Navy was playing a two deep zone to prevent the long pass and that carried over from the Wake game where they denied long passes to Wake, so Wake dinked and dunked them to death. Two thoughts. One, never should have given up that long pass, even on a play action. Some one blew an assignment and that really changed the game I thought. Second, the botched field goal did matter. We make that, we're up 24-21 and Navy is the one trying to tie or win the game at the end. What was the penalty on the extra point on their final TD? It was a 15 yarder. The referee audio stunk. Also #40 for SMU getting in extra curricular stuff after the kick-off at a crucial time in the game helped to set up that INT in my view. We were pinned back and Kyle rushed a pass into double coverage.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

On the extra point, JG Davis leapt over the center and in full flight landed on the kicker. I thought the kicker was dead. It was a deserved penalty but I do not know how he missed the kick. Had he blocked it all would have been ok.

We were told frequently to sit down by the Navy faithful sprinkled in the SMU section. I guess it's contagious and not just at Ford. Who would have the audacity to stand at a college sporting event?

I've seen it 3 times but JG Davis' leap over the Line was a pretty damn incredible athletic play that you just don't see especially from LB. . Announcers thought he jumped off someone's back. No he just leaped the line like he was going over a high hurdle. Guess his experience as a State Finalist at the State Track Meet in 110 Meter Hurdles helped. Oh well he didn't get the ball but it would have been something if he had
