I agree with those who say we should not play Navy. We are not competing for BCS points so there is no need to play a team that requires our defense to do something it never does the rest of the year. As to the comments about adjustments during the game - we make lots of adjustments. If you attend a game in person and watch the sidelines the coaches are always coaching the players and then you see the results on the field. This is one of the best group of coaches at making game time adjustments we have had.

U of H will be a close game. The probably took Rice for granted and were looking ahead to us. They will be ready for us and will play with a chip on their shoulder. I don't think we know how to play as favorites so being a 9 point favorite is not a good thing. We will need strong fan support.

Same with TCU. We could use a break from both schools for a couple of years to get better.

So now we are frightened to play the Horned Frogs and mean ole Navy?-just when we are seeing the benefits of establishing a competitive model. Yeah I think UT ought to drop OU too and A&M ought to drop UT-just too hard. GENIUS!!!! How about Tech? We'd be undefeated with this type of thinking. SMU fans just can't wait for more Sam Houston State games. I got a better idea-let's go get the players we need to kick their [deleted] all over the field. You can thank me later when you realize what it feels like to beat a team you care about beating.

Pretty sure he was being sarcastic about TCU....but most good schools hate playing academies, part of the reason they would not put them in BCS conferences...

Who wants to have to prepare for an offense once a year that can neutralize every advantage you have over them....We were bigger, faster, stronger, and managed to lose...ask wake how it feels...

Ask OU what it was like to prepare for Air Force this year so guys like you can point out that the didn't destroy them like TCU who sees them every year will...

Totally agree with Stallion. We need to keep playing tcu every year and I am fine with playing Navy. If we are going to get taken seriously, playing SFA and SHSU is not going to do it.

We need to play with the fire we had against TCU (minus the int and long return).

True, the players need to play that way every game but it's not realistic that they'll get up for (insert C-USA team) like they do for a Top 5 TCU team especially in front of a sparse crowd.
They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

I care about not playing Navy. Even were SMU to beat Navy, it would provide no greater recognition. Navy is not BCS, and it is not ranked. It is a team that utilizes an offense we are incapable of stopping.

Highly ranked opponents are desirable, as they provide the opportunity for a team to demonstrate its capabilities. Navy is only an average opponent, but one that consistently triumphs over our own forces.

SMU will triumph against TCU before it does so against Navy.
