Re: Surprise-OU No. 1 in BCSYou can't punnish TCU or Boise for being in a crummy conference when they WANT in a harder conference and aren't being let in. That's basically saying "you cannot access the national championship & associated money and there's nothing you can do about it".

Re: Surprise-OU No. 1 in BCS
Boise & to a lesser extent TCU, will take on all comers out of conference. Few takers. If you're on top of the college football world and have a tough conference schedule, you have very little upside by playing these tough opponents. Look who most of the traditional power schools play OOC - a bunch of creampuffs. Also, would you want TCU or Boise in your conference if you're already in a major conference? They bring little money & a good chance at a loss every year. I think both TCU & Boise have had tougher schedules so far than OU so far this year though that will change after enough conference games are played.
Re: Surprise-OU No. 1 in BCSI would not describe OU's schedule as filled with cream puffs...
I would hope we understand after this weekend, just how hard it is for a college team to go on the road and win vs a quality opponent...now amplify that by 1000 when you consider what OU, Oregon, Auburn, ect. get when they walk into those stadiums... TCU and Boise are good teams but it would be very difficult for them to do it every week...
Re: Surprise-OU No. 1 in BCSit's a rigged system. boise is the best team in the country but they won't be allowed to show it.
Re: Surprise-OU No. 1 in BCSThere is one way that Boise and TCU could show that they belong, and that they can play with the BCS schools. There could be a playoff at the end of the season to allow them to show it. There is also no way that is going to happen without major intervention from an outside source. This may be the year to show the disparity in the system. OU will lose at least one game, either to Okie State or the North Champion in the Big 12(10) championship game. They may even lose to A&M since it is being played at Kyle Field.
Re: Surprise-OU No. 1 in BCSanybody making the anti-TCU and anti-Boise argument is making an anti-SMU argument as well. They shut us out, locked the door and now want to complain because we don't play a BCS schedule. TCU would be in a BCS conference right now if they weren't a small private school. TCU hasn't allowed a TD in more than 3 games-TCU and Boise are No. 1 and No. 2 in Total Defense. NONE OF THE OTHER TEAMS ARE THAT GREAT this year. I think TCU and Boise could play with all contenders.

Re: Surprise-OU No. 1 in BCS
So in this case you are arguing against your vaunted Rivals recruiting ranking to quality team ratio.... Just want to be clear that you are contradicting yourself....

Re: Surprise-OU No. 1 in BCSThe NC game generates big $$$!
The national TV advertisers and TV executives want as many eyeballs glued to the tube as possible. The Bowl Executives and affiliated cities want as many tourists to come to their city and spend, spend, spend! All of you wringing your hands over poor Boise Junior College and eff_TCU are such whiners that I'm going to go get my first cup of Morning Joe to come to my senses so I can really tell you what I think! Re: Surprise-OU No. 1 in BCSthe reason some of these schools aren't as strong this year is because schools like Alabama and USC, Florida lose 3,4, or 5 undergraduates every year to the NFL which dilutes the strength of the superpowers. The superpowers just aren't as strong as they used to be. Vince Young goes early and UT has to rebuild at QB. Countless examples every year. TCU something has like 18 Senior starters(off the top of my head). That makes for a more competitive balance. OU has had 3 games against Utah St. Cincy and Air Force that went to the final gun. I would expect TCU and Boise to win those games at least as convincingly. I'm saying there are no great teams this year and I've felt the same way from the start.

Re: Surprise-OU No. 1 in BCSI'm just saying TCU nor Boise have been top 25 recruiting classes for the last 4 years...I would expect Oregon and OU to be avg. top 10-15 for those 4 years...
TCU in the last 4 years has had 10 players drafted, Oregon 15, and Oklahoma 19... Not to much of a difference considering the "quality of recruit" they replace those players with... How many head to head battles in recruiting has OU lost to TCU? I am just saying you are totally contradicting your rivals stuff here, they make revoke you membership and then who know who you will have to do... If OU and TCU played 5 home and home games this year, do you really believe TCU would win 6? They may win once in Norman...??? You are a student of the game, playing on the road vs quality opponents is extremely hard, TCU's away schedule is this...SMU, CSU, UNLV, Utah, and New Mexico... We will see how Utah goes and then there is us...I believe we are a quality opponent...
Re: Surprise-OU No. 1 in BCSIf either LSU or Auburn was to run the table in the SEC, I cannot imagine them not being in the championship game; would be interesting if OU or Missou or OK St goes undefeated and Oregon and Mich St also go unbeaten. I see an undefeated team from any of those conferences more deserving than either Boise or TCU. That's a heck of an accomplishment to go undefeated in those conferences but moreso in the SEC and Big XII because of their championship games.

Re: Surprise-OU No. 1 in BCSI call BS on any computer ranking, and any compiling of computer rankings to determine the BCS rank - the more sophisticated it is purported to be means absolutely nothing in the end. It can be influenced. It can be manipulated. It can be massaged. Why? It's all based on statistics and opinion. And we know just how reliable statistics are, courtesy Mr. S. Clemens - he of the coined phrase related to lies and damn lies.
I would absolutely love it if it came to the end of a season and the only undefeated teams in the top 15 were non-BCS conference teams. And there were 10 of them. Don't worry. Be Happy. Or not.

I would say the human polls are more subject to influence, massaging, and manipulation. ![]() Go Ponies!!
