Rice staying in Div.IA
Trustees announced the decision today to stay in Div.IA and build a new basketball arena.
Thanks, Ponies, From Rice
Thanks to all of you who took time to go to the Friends of Rice Athletics and support our efforts to not only remain Division 1-A but to reaffirm Rice's commitment to athletic excellence on an institutional level. The official press release specifically acknowledges the high priority the Board has to provide a new convocation center (interpreted=basketball arena)! We look forward to many more years competing with your fine institution.

I always assumed that Rice would continue its heritage of participating in college athletic's highest division. As of now the announcement isn't on riceowls.com but SWC's Grey Hair's report is welcomed news
I am proud to have SMU Athletics continue in a conference and a likely CUSA division with Rice.
SMU needs to get the Moody renovation or new indoor sports facility project moving.

Great news from Houston. Go Owls, Go Mustangs, Go C-USA!
Also, thanks for the reminder that Moody needs attention (can miss the opportunity to include a new competitive aquatic center for the Men and Wome Mustang Swimmers & Divers as well).
Our remaining sports (still can believe we are eliminating Men's Track & Field)) need competitive facilities. I hope we made a commitment to Tubbs on Moody. Renovation will be expensive, but not out of this world.
