Now, go re-read my post. Where did I say that you said 32k UNT students were coming to your football games?

I merely pointed out that you could not possible have 32k season tickets sold for a 30k stadium. I guess I did not take your rediculous math into account where you count each season ticket holder's individual game's tickets as a season ticket sale.

Normally, and this goes for the more intelligent arguers, normally, when you say "Season Ticket Sales" that means the number of sets of tickets sold for the season in question -- NOT the sum total of all tickets sold in the season ticket sales allotment.

If you are going to use that sort of math, don't forget to add in single game ticket pre-sales as well.

Your loving MeanGreenIdiot basher,

So we are at the middle school name calling stage now?

Can a hardy handful of you figure out that I am saying "IF" in all of this? We have never sold 32,000 season tickets and neither have many other schools in the BCS. Most school's total enrollments never show 100% at their school's games, either. What part of this is so difficult?

Original Theme: If schools simply got out all those who have an "already purchased ticket" out to the stadium, then "butts in seats" attendance numbers would be better for all.

Are some of you stumbling over a bit of simplicity here?:(

(No wonder TCU..................well, nevermind).

You never said "IF" in your original statements...you just asserted that there were 32k season tickets ALREADY SOLD.

Your original theme is sound--"butts in seats" will define who stays in D-1 and who goes. UNT must be worried about its bubble status on the attendance issue as well.

I am sorry, I keep forgetting that I am not on the Rice message board where this subject would not be near as confusing as it is to a hardy handful on this one; that is, when I say 32,000 UNT students buy football season tickets when they enroll because of their student service fee. It is a difficult concept to understand, I know.

I think the acutal number of 32,000 (and growing) enrollment is really the more bothersome part to a few on this board who would attempt to cloud the original message being conveyed, ya' think?

FWIW, we are not going to stop growing at 32,000 according to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Their (usually) very reliable research says add about 10,000 more to the 32K and that is what our main campus will grow to.

Enjoy your September...

Why is it that too many of you think we all live in Denton? I live in Weatherford, Texas; about 100,000 other UNT alums also don't live in Denton, either, but other parts of the Metroplex.

I think we've covered the "32,000" about as well as it needs to be covered on this forum.

I don't like your (sublimenal "rivalry?") school but for some stranger than hell reason, I am hoping yall turn your gol' darned freakin' football program around. Maybe its because I knew Hayden's son's (had classes with one of em') and they used to hang out at SMuuuuuu a bit as some of you SMU old timers will recall.

I am curious as to how many of those 32k are students in the traditional sense of the word, and how many are working professionals from the Dallas area getting their degree from the most convenient school.

Wasn't UNT's counting of commuter students as traditional students a large reason for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board's refusal to allow UNT to build a satellite school in the Dallas metro area?

I honestly don't know and am curious.

WrechEm16, where ya' been?

UNT is filling its dorms as fast as its building them. We have right at 20.000 who live on or within blocks of our campus.

There is a UNT-Dallas in its embroyo stage as we post. In fact, land was given to UNT to develop this campus in south Dallas County. I was not on board having that campus myself, but Texas A&M and Texas Tech were vying to have that campus in their systems so UNT decided to get in the race, too..

After much study on this situation, south Dallas County officials led by Texas State Senator Royce West chose UNT because of its academic legacy of intergration back in the mid 1950's when integration was not the most popular thing to do down here in the South or Southwest (among other reasons).

You mentioned the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board? That group forecasted that UNT will have 42-43,000 students on its main campus in Denton in another 10 years. Yes, I would say many of that group will commute but I'll also say many will be living on or near campus, too--just like now.

UNT has enough students who live on and near campus now to draw a substantial number of fans even if we didn't grow to 42,000 in the next 10 years.

Oh, I've been around... :D

Glad to hear good things are happening for UNT. Many of my high school friends made the northern trek to Denton.
