Where is the rah rah!!?

Post by ProudPonyPa »

It's been a while since I visited Pony Fans. There just doesn't seem to be a lot of excitement about the upcoming year. What gives? :?:

I think it's just a result of the fact that it's the offseason. There was a lot of chatter through recruiting season and signing day, and of course basketball season and the hiring of Coach Tubbs. But the Pony faithful are still here, and eagerly awaiting the season. I think there's cautious optimism about the upcoming season - baby steps this year, major tangible improvement in 2005 as the young players grow and mature.
Welcome back.

We are all very cautious - we have been burned by high expectations before. Also - the schedule is so ridiculous we are fairly sure it will be mid season before it starts to get a bit more fun - I can't sustain a good rah rah through 6 months - I have to pace myself.

Yeah, this board (and the old mm.com) has always been slow this time of year. Man, I wish we had baseball.

Even though we're weeks away, I have begun to think about what animal I'm going to grill over hot coals and which kind of fermented grape juice I'll wash it down with come Boulevard time!

Now there's a PonyFan with his priorities in order!

Can't wait for Tech to get here. Unfortunately I don't see the Red Raiders suffering the braincramp that afflicted Kansas in the Ford Stadium opener when the Jayhawks were grossly unprepared for the heat. Not that I want anyone to really suffer sunstroke or anything, but if they were to wear out because it will be 100-plus that day .... I'd be OK with that.

How many receivers did Tech lose? I know Carlos Francis got drafted, but didn't they lose a couple more?

They lost Wes Welker and I think Mickey Peters too. They have a good freshman last year Hicks which is coming back and they also apparently signed a juco standout, but I'm not sure if he's ever gonna make it on campus.

Why not? Grades?

Sure would be nice to catch Tech in the midst of ironing out the kinks in the passing game as they adjust to the new (albeit talented) QB and a handful of new receivers.

Let's start the season with an upset win!
