By the way - are there even ANY bears in Mississippi? I mean, why not the sand crabs, or why not just get right down to it and go with the "drunks" - theres lots of them down there.....
My Ole Miss connections tell me the bear is from a William Faulkner fable and the English majors were about the only people enthusiastic enough to vote. Faulkner lived in Oxford, got drunk every night, knocked down half the mail boxes and street signs in the city. They put up with him thinking he would leave his papers to Ole Miss. Wrong. He left them to U of Virginia. Now he has screwed the Rebels again.
