Geez next thing we know we will have posters complaining about teams wearing the American Flag as its too trendy......very immature and poor taste here.
When you have someone go through chemotherapy/radiation and have to go to Baylor every week and see all those women going through holy crap trying to survive and they are all in solidarity with Pink on...then maybe you will grow up and not complain about college and Pros supporting the cause by wearing pink in support of those who are no longer with us and those that are trying to stay amung us.
Supporting those who have cancer or families that have family members who have cancer by wearing pink in support, is not friggin 'trendy', nor gimmicky. And by the way, its not trendy or gimmicky having cancer yourself either...If its Rice or UT or Sam Houston State.....Who cares?..they are all still honoring all those afflicted in their own way.
BS posts.

Ponyscott, it sounds like your wife is one of the lucky ones---congratulations! My youngest child--the one in high school I have talked about on here---is 17 now and has been cancer free for 15 years. While I don't support breast cancer financially--because I have chosen to support childhood cancer research and The Sunshine Kids organization--I am glad that people have come together in the month of October to support/remember women who are fighting the fight.

I think you missed the intent of my post -- and I don't feel like explaining it further. I'm pro-fundraising (rode in several fundraiser rides this year for various organizations), anti-cancer (at least one was for cancer specifically, wildride up in Plano), and anti-dying in general (no, really. If I can live forever, I will). And you really shouldn't lecture people about sensitivity -- it's ironically insensitive when you don't know them.

I'm not trying to dig you and am sorry but you are WAY wrong and off base SMU Diamond M and I will leave it at that. Don't keep digging yourself in further....weak BS.
Am damn glad you are involved ( some attaboys!) but don't make fun of those who can't and maybe have no way to be involved but just be able to wear a color to show support...you are making it now that you are bigger than those that care and haven't been involved like you because they can't ride a bike, etc....Big wow!
My bad if I offended though!..

I don't care for the pink on uniforms. If we have to dress players in pink to generate awareness of cancer then our society has some major problems. Surely there is a better way? And there are so many different diseases which are equally important to fight!

Just by commenting on this thread, positive or not, is definitive proof that you (and you, and you) are now more aware of the issue. And, whether you like it or not - the effort got your attention, didn't it?

Not really. I'm no more aware of breast cancer than I was before, beceause I'm not living in a cave in Zaire where nobody has heard of cancer.

In fact, the crass commercialism and empty, meaningless displays of "awareness" by some people lately have left a somewhat negative connotation with breast cancer "awareness" in my mind.

All the pink ribbon, facebook status, bumper sticker BS does more harm than good. It's armchair activism. "Raising awareness" doesn't really do much unless it is followed with real action. Unfortuantely, so many will put on some trendy "Save the Ta-Tas" Tshirt and think they are doing something, instead of actually doing something. As someone stated, it's the charity opiate of the masses.

Yes, right on.

If you took all the money used to buy all this pink crap -- decals, shoes, tape, shirts, sweat bands, etc. -- it would do more good than this awareness raising nonsense. Who doesn't know about breast cancer except small children?
