Unless I have missed a major awareness campaign, I have not seen where our folks have done their part to promote the show with weekly email blasts, stuff on the web site, flyers in the mail, use it as an effective recruiting tool or whatnot.
I'm on the email list for the school for everything. Can't remember seeing something at all.
We're about 2 months into this thing and there's little to no media blitz? If the university is paying $X for the show, it could do itself a favor by maybe promoting what it's paying for. Or else it's been a timewaste.
If I'm June Jones, I love exposure and I'm also rolling my eyes at the administration/AD for not doing its part to promote the school.
The lack of execution is disappointing.

Agreed. Unless I've killed too many brain cells, I don't remember anything in the way of marketing. All word of mouth.

Ads during the World Series games would help

Think I remember them making a PA announcement about the show at the last home game.

The only thing I have seen is a Mustang Club email and a posting on smumustangs.com. They have said something about it at the games on the jumbotron.

How is the Craig James event advertised here but not The Climb? Hell, I will chip in money to pay for the advertising fees.

If die-hards like us are having a hard time even remembering when and how they heard about this, shouldn't that be enough evidence of how poorly this has been executed?
I recognize that the marketing department and sports information do their thing, but IF YOU WANT TO BE BIG TIME THEN ACT LIKE IT AND GET OUT IN FRONT OF THIS STUFF AND BLOW IT OUT.
WE'RE GETTING A 1/2 HOUR SHOW EVERY WEEK THAT IS REPEATED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. IT'S LIKE A 30-MINUTE INFOMERCIAL. AND WHEN MARKETING AND THE SID PRESENT NOTHING OR LITTLE TO ADVANCE IT EXCEPT, THEN IT SHOWS THAT EACH SIDE HAS ITS COLLECTIVE THUMB UP ITS [deleted].
THAT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF.
THAT'S UNACCEPTABLE.

I'm sure recruits and their families are aware of the show and would hope they have access to prior versions.
I'm glad we get to watch, but feel bringing SMU into the livingroom of a recruit and their family is the most important.

I think I mentioned recruiting in the other thread. I hope the recruits are aware of it. With our track record of promoting....

the whole thing is a commercial itself, it is basically a kick arse entertaining info-mercial.

I completely agree. I initially heard about the show when it was posted on here before the season started and from word of mouth through other young diehard alumni. However, when I talk to other young alumni (especially classmates of mine that are coming back for our 5 year reunion this weekend) they had no idea about the show. We have been blasted since May with information about the reunion, the unbridled campaign, emails, mailers, etc etc. and not one mentioned the show or the football program in general. It would be simple for the school to have inserted a mailer about the team, the show, and our athletic programs with all of the reunion materials, but it failed to do so. A huge oversight on the university's part.
