Re: JJ at the top of CU's wish list?
I too would love to see CU field a real football team again. Be great to see McCartney roaming the sidelines again.
Re: JJ at the top of CU's wish list?
It would be nice to see CU playing good football again. I suppose if Mac wants the job, he's proven he can win there before. Not like it could be any worse than it has been under Hawkins.
Re: JJ at the top of CU's wish list?
Thanks for stopping in Froggie, Patterson would be more likely to leave than JJ. Nice try, now run along... Last edited by Pony_Fan on Thu Oct 21, 2010 12:23 pm, edited 1 time in total.

I'm sure we'll be seeing more and more posts like this as the season winds down. Worry about holding onto Fatterson, especially when the Toads get shut out of the BCS title game again. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: JJ at the top of CU's wish list?Report: CU targeting Patterson for head coach position
BOULDER - Sources within the University of Colorado athletic department have indicated that the school is interested in hiring TCU head coach Gary Patterson to lead its football program as the Buffaloes move to the PAC-12. "Patterson would be an ideal choice for us," one athletic department official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said. "He's a proven winner who has taken TCU to national prominence." Patterson's TCU Horned Frogs began the season ranked #4 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll. They are currently ranked #5 in the BCS Standings. "The success that he has had at TCU is tremendous," the athletic department official said. "He's taken that program to a level that we would like to reach here at CU." While Dan Hawkins' Buffaloes currently sit at 3-3, the athletic department has already decided to make a move to fire him at the end of the year. "There's no way he will beat Nebraska or Oklahoma," the official said, adding "We might as well forfeit the rest of the games on our schedule." The decision to hire a new coach coincides with CU's decision to move to the Pac-12. As another source in the athletic department said, "It's time to start a new era, and that means cleansing ourselves of any remnants of this program when we played in that league based in the Great Plains." Patterson's name may not be a surprise to some, due to his winning, but hiring Patterson would certainly not be without controversy. The TCU head man reportedly has berated team doctors for holding injured players out of games, which is eerily similar to the events that led to Mike Leach's firing at Texas Tech. CU, though, has no concerns about that. "We don't think that Gary will even need doctors at CU," the first official said. "When a player gets injured, he can have the player grab some snow and hold it over the injury." In fact, CU officials believe that Patterson is a can't-miss hire. "He's been so successful building TCU into one of the nation's top programs," a source said. "That sort of success at a non-BCS school will certainly translate into championships at a BCS school like CU."
Re: JJ at the top of CU's wish list?Yeah, I was looking over CU's history the other day and could not believe how good of a program it was. From 1989-1996, here are CU's AP Top-25 finishes.
1989-4 1990-1 1991-20 1992-13 1993-16 1994-3 1995-5 1996-8 That is an average of 8.75. The program is absolutely irrelevant in FBS right now, pretty damn sad. I joke with my buddies that went to CU that SMU would be favored over the Buffs in a Neutral Site game. Looks like going to SMU was a smart move by me. Some people simply forget just how bad it was...

Come on, this is just a froggie troll trying to create some recruiting season smoke. ![]() ![]() ![]() Go Ponies!!

Re: JJ at the top of CU's wish list?Tell the Frogs GP is on CU's list.....
Re: JJ at the top of CU's wish list?
Maybe NTSU can hire Dawkins when CU fires him? ![]() GO MUSTANGS!
Re: JJ at the top of CU's wish list?
I would think they look at Gary Patterson before they look at hiring JJ. GP has a proven track record, JJ is on the way but GP is proven. GO MUSTANGS!
Re: JJ at the top of CU's wish list?
Neither has a proven track record at the AQ level. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: JJ at the top of CU's wish list?My OP said JJ hadn't reciprocated the love. I thought it was positive. Anyway, my buddy said JJ was at the top but really didn't think the State would allow a salary at that level (LOL). He is bumbed because he sees them trying to get a guy excited to make a mill or so in a BCS conf. Kinda like Baylor did with Briles.
Also, CGP has made it clear he isn't interested in a AQ fixer upper like Baylor, ag, cu etc. He isn't a buttoned down type for UT and the like. I might sweat if LSU pops open. Otherwise, why would he leave? He gets great athletes, makes more the most BCS coaches, a consistent top 10 program now and is an icon in the community. Heck, Chris Fowler reads his text messages on College Game Day.
Re: JJ at the top of CU's wish list?please tell me we didn't give him a "Big Tuna" type f deal on his extension.

Re: JJ at the top of CU's wish list?My sister lives in Denver and hasn't mentioned anything of this sort. Besides, do you think the Buffalo would like the Geldings?
