Hey I'm all for it. We need more topics of conversation here. Maybe they can create a board that is for various topics. Food, music, movies, etc. That would be fun, especially during this down time. Instead we get stuff like this:

Mike Damone: Who watched the Rangers game last night? Great ending.
Ponyfans Poster #1: Why should we care?
Ponyfans Poster #2: This is an SMU board!
Ponyfans Poster #3: Do you not love your school?
Ponyfans Poster #2: Yeah, you don't like SMU. What's wrong with you?
Ponyfans Poster #3: Prove you love SMU. How many games have you been to? How much money do you give? Frog!!
Ponyfans Poster #1: Get off this board unless you want to talk about the color of grass on the practice field or the amount of salt on the popcorn at Ford Stadium.
Ponyfans Poster #4: Guys, I just talked to Coach Bennett, Chris Phillips, Eric Dickerson, Jeryl Sasser, and Aaron Spelling. I'm real tight with all of them because my best friend from high school is the 3rd string walkon punter. They told me if you're asking about the Rangers, you're probably not a real SMU fan................oh, and btw my buddy is getting screwed. He should be starting. Coach is hurting his draft status.

I am not Joe Tiller, but I follow Purdue more closely than you so please do not try to explain what the Purdue staff does or how they operate. Foran was never going to be 'the man' at Purdue with regard to quarterback, unless there was a rash of injuries. Foran was not the only frosh they brough in at quarterback this past year who ended moving to another position.

Dear Governor,

I apologize for my behavior. I have no idea how or what was promised to Bill Foran to attend Purdue University. He may have been offered a car, but I don't know. I doubt it.

Moreover, I feel very bad that the young individual, Bill Foran, got caught up in all of this. I never meant any disrespect to his athletic abilities, nor did I ever mean to disrespect to him as a person or to his character. I believe several times I have mentioned this sentiment of mine within these posts.

However, I do want to make a point that NO ONE knows what was said during ANY recruiting visits except him or the coaches involved. All we know are the facts as they have unfolded.

Mr. Foran has quit the Purdue football team, coincidentally or not, after having been moved to RB at Purdue after ONE year. He was offered a 'chance' to compete at QB, and Joe Tiller appearantly felt that, despite Mr. Foran being the #58 athlete in the nation, he was not going to be able to produce at QB for Purdue.

Appearantly, other Div1A football coaches felt the exact same way and never offered a 'chance' on their respective teams to play QB.

Take it for whatever you wish, but SOMETIMES coaches will offer a 'chance' just to sign the player in question. Whether or not Joe Tiller did as much, I have no idea. But, appearantly, he was the only coach to offer him a 'chance' to play QB, so Mr. Foran took it.

Finally, after being given all of a redshirt year's 'chance', Joe Tiller changed his mind, with 4 years of eligibility remaining for Mr. Foran to prove himself.

All I have to say to that is 'Hmmm.....'

Has your eye opened up just a little, or are you still blind?

I hope I am wrong and he comes to SMU, plays WR or whatever, and becomes all C-USA.

But, I seriously DOUBT IT.

Sincerely,

GRGB

PS: Governor, take that giant chip off your shoulder and we will all get along better.

PPS: How the hell do you know if you follow Purdue more closely than ME?

I think most recruits decision is based on more factors than just a chance at playing quarterback. I'm sure Bill Foran knew he wasn't going to start at quarterback for Purdue before he went there (Purdue has played thoroughbred passing quarterbacks since Brees). We can't speculate that a position change is the reason he is transferring. There are so many other things going on in college students life that could cause the need for a change. It would be very myopic just to transfer because of a football position change.

But, I have nothing wrong with giving him a Purdue style 'chance' at QB. If he decides to come here, there is nothing wrong with stockpiling as much talent as possible. Whether he would seriously consider coming here, requires more knowledge of the exact circumstances around his decision to transfer.
